Ed George Soros and others targetted by Terrorist

This is why I use a healthy mix of social media platforms:

Twitter: Americans bickering along party lines.
Facebook: Americans bickering along party lines.
Instagram: "models".
International Skeptics Forum: Americans bickering along party lines.

When I discuss the merits of a multi-party parliamentary system versus the de facto two party system of the USA with Americans, they are always quick to point out that they dislike the party lines that are created in multi-party parliaments, where representatives are forced to vote what their party wants.

That's not always true. Different parties in different countries have different rules and customs on the subject. In Norway, some parties are famous for their party whip, while other parties don't have one at all. Gender neutral marriage in Norway, as an example, gained majority because some representatives broke with their party stance and voted for it. There are many more examples.

There are of course many examples of this from the USA as well. But really, compared to the USA our party lines are like picket fences while theirs are like WW1 trenches.

Regardless, I see the same kind of polarisation coming to Europe.

The main difference is that we get small 'boutique' parties (sometimes one-issue), and American conservatives are in one 'big tent' with the Trumpers and have to hold their nose. We Euros get to be reasonably ideologically pure until the coalitions are formed and we have to start holding our noses too.

Again, shifting goalposts. The issue was Trump blaming the media and not taking any of the responsibility.

I haven’t shifted my goalposts, and you don’t get to decide them for me. And once again, responsibility for what? This thread isn’t about some generic “tone”. It’s about the bombs sent in the mail. It hasn’t been established that Trump, or anyone else, has any responsibility for those bombs at all.

As for Trump vs the media on general tone, which is off topic, sure, it would be nice if he weren’t so inflammatory. But when the NYT is printing Trump assasination porn fiction, it’s hard to take their protestations of innocence seriously.

Oh, absolutely. In some countries more than others, but there's more and more of it.

But I will still claim that multi-party systems are more immune to it than two party systems.

No one would tie Antifa to the whole left in Norway, nor nazis to the whole right. Most people know it's more complicated than that. Compare that with the USA, where whatever is done by someone on one side gets smeared on everyone on the side. Antifa is on the left, therefore the same as everyone else left of center. In Norway, the far right terrorist was actually a former member of the far right Progress Party, and still people saw it as more complicated than that and the party was never blamed for his actions.

It makes for the sort of trench warfare you see in this thread, where people neatly seperate into two groups and try to run across no man's land.

Hey, that's my territory! :(

Fake Indians, fake Honduran caravan, fake news, fake blue wave, and now fake mail bombs.

The only thing real about the Dimms is their desperation.

You do understand that the Honduran caravan is being used for political gain by Trump, not the Democrats, right?

I mean, there are also photos of the caravan, so I'm not quite getting why you want to call it fake. But, you know, you're free to pretend.

The Trumpers desperately need for the bombs not to be real in order to claim it's all a Dem hoax. Not real = no intention to actually hurt/kill the targets = must be someone who likes all the targets =must be a Dem = can't hold Trump and his rhetoric responsible = can still support Trump.

Unsurprisingly, Trump takes no responsibility for his part in this; it's all the media's fault. Trump's never taken responsibility for anything negative in his entire life; he's too busy take credit for everything.

That's not how a bloody equals sign works.

I'm leaning towards the conclusion that the devices weren't intended to explode.

CNN is allowing for that explanation as well.
The FBI called them "potentially destructive devices" -- so either the bombmaker was good enough to ensure none would go off and never intended them to explode, or they were poorly constructed.
The presence of what is believed to be pyrotechnic powder is one reason why authorities consider them to be potentially destructive, though it appears they were handled through the postal system -- where they were jostled and moved -- without any explosion.
Outside experts have pointed to the lack of a triggering mechanism, suggesting they were never meant to explode.
"Whoever is doing this is just trying to elicit a fear or disrupt something," said Ryan Morris, founder of Tripwire Operations Group, a company that provides explosives training to law enforcement and military officials. He had examined images of the devices sent to Soros and to CNN's New York offices.

Unlikely, given that unloaded guns are not real guns.

Is Sauer the only guy you can find about this topic?

And that is also a crime, sir.

Did you hallucinate the part where he said it wasn't a crime?

Ah, but it's fake because (as Trump has said) there are Middle Eastern terrorists in it. Or something.

Are you unaware of the fact that things can be implied rather than stated outright?

It's clear that Tom Sawyer and Slings are both trying to downplay this event to the point where they're just shy of claiming that nothing actually happened.

So yeah, I think that Sawyer's comment is meant to say "hey, no big deal". But no, that's still a threat and an act of terrorism regardless of whether the bombs were meant to explode, which clearly this so-called expert doesn't know.

Gee, no trigger.

Hmmm, now who has been patiently explaining this.

modesty forfends...

The head of Homeland Security apparently doesn't think it's a big deal either. She's at the border participating in a dog wagging exercise.

Wait, are they downplaying it to claim nothing happened? or are they simply stating that an intentionally inoperable device, points to a democrat supporter trying to sway the midterms?

If they drag a democrat activist off to jail, it is going to be a monstrous victory in 2 weeks for the republicans. Do you agree?

Define massive victory.
