This is why I use a healthy mix of social media platforms:
Twitter: Americans bickering along party lines.
Facebook: Americans bickering along party lines.
Instagram: "models".
International Skeptics Forum: Americans bickering along party lines.
When I discuss the merits of a multi-party parliamentary system versus the de facto two party system of the USA with Americans, they are always quick to point out that they dislike the party lines that are created in multi-party parliaments, where representatives are forced to vote what their party wants.
That's not always true. Different parties in different countries have different rules and customs on the subject. In Norway, some parties are famous for their party whip, while other parties don't have one at all. Gender neutral marriage in Norway, as an example, gained majority because some representatives broke with their party stance and voted for it. There are many more examples.
There are of course many examples of this from the USA as well. But really, compared to the USA our party lines are like picket fences while theirs are like WW1 trenches.
