London's "No-Go" areas.

That's one of those places where there'll be 2" of snow on the ground and a howling January northerly, and the lads are there at 2 in the morning in their tight tee shirts with extra short sleeves to show off their tattoos, and with a packet of cigarettes stuffed into the sleeve. The lasses totter about in high heels, mini-skirts no wider than a big belt, and tiny see through tops. If you can avoid the fights, the spectacle is worth the visit. Just the once, mind.

Sounds like my one visit to Redcar on a Friday night. The other things I noticed were that all the blokes seemed to be late teens or very early twenties and the women seemed to be under eighteen or over forty and either way dressed just as you described...

You have had a night out in Redcar?
I have had many a night out in Redcar, I live a bus ride away :)

It's not the place it used to be, the seedier Nightclubs have closed I am sad to say.
Leo’s was bulldozed a few years ago and Silk's has gone.
The 'Deck' is still there (A pint, a dance and a stab)
Sandpiper has gone as well.
they have been replaced by 'chain' pubs

This was a good few years ago and I was there for a friend's wedding nearby on the Saturday. It was me, my (now) wife and her best friend (who as a completely off topic aside is now married to the best man from the wedding who she met the next day). I was very conscious of being one bloke with two girls and far, far from home. Especially since we were all conspicuously Southern sounding. Although my wife is from Liverpool she speaks English like a native. (Sound of me getting slapped from offscreen)

If the girls are wearing that and look like The Fat Slags* this may indeed be a No-Go area.

*Oh, Lordy!

Nick Revell used to do a routine about a night out in Newcastle like that. "2 inches of snow
and one guy's getting a kicking for being a poof because his tee shirt has long sleeves. One guy's just wearing a tutu to make his point. 'Ye canna even see me nipples and this is raw silk'".

Why is there a university in Middlesbrough? Isn't it cruel to make people travel there for their education?

University of Teesside.
Highly regarded for it's computer games design, digital imaging and forensic science departments.
I did my photography degree there in the 80s.
It used to have a big engineering and metallurgy departments.

I've not been up to that London for a few weeks. Is Oxford Street OK to visit or is it a no-go area now? I'm shooting at the 100 Club on Saturday and need to know if it's safe...

Well, apart from the usual harassment by bicycle rickshaw drivers it should be bearable.
