The behaviour of UK police officers.

I think I'm starting to get the point of this thread.

All Muslims should be lined up and shot by True Blue USA **** Yea cops because reasons....

That's not the point of this thread.

The point of this thread is twofold:

Firstly a sort of false equivalence - we get a lot of talk about poor behaviour on the part of US officers. I think some US posters take that as an attack on the US in general. I think they believe that the US is just being picked on and officers are guilty of the same poor behaviour the world over. Therefore this thread.

However the most important aspect of the thread, for those that are driving it, is as a tool for wind up merchants. You can tell from the way any questions that would conclusively give the lie to their position are studiously ignored until they go away.

They wield, with relish, their largest stirring spoons and don't actually care about logic or honest debate. Therefore, just get out of the pot.

Yet we have arrested many, many people involved in these gangs of serial rapists and we have prosecuted and imprisoned many for a long time.

By the way how many of these gangs have been prosecuted in the USA?

Remember that in some states one can marry at 14 but the age of consent is 16

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_marriage_in_the_United_States#Comparison_with_other_countries

Comparison with other countries
Critics have pointed out that laws regarding child marriage in the United States compare unfavorably to laws regarding child marriage in other countries. For instance, in 2017, Human Rights Watch pointed out that Afghanistan has a tougher law on child marriage than parts of the United States: in Afghanistan the minimum marriage is 15, and that only with permission from their father or a judge; otherwise it is 16.[30] As of that date, in 25 US states there was no minimum marriage age at all if one or more of the grounds for exception existed; this number has now decreased to 18.[31]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherry_Johnson

Early life and first marriage
Johnson grew up in Tampa, Florida. She was an only child, and her household consisted of her, her mother, and her mother's husband.[1] They lived in the parsonage of their conservative Pentecostal church.[2] Beginning at age 8, Johnson was repeatedly raped by the bishop and deacon of her church.[3] Johnson was also raped by her mother's husband.[1] She became pregnant as a result of rape at age 10. The pregnancy was not recognized until she was 7 months along in gestation. Johnson's mother did not support or believe her statements that she was raped, and did not accompany her to the hospital when it was time to deliver the baby. Johnson's mother arranged for her to marry the deacon who had raped her, Alfonsa Tolbert, so that he could avoid criminal charges.[1] At the time, 16- and 17-year old minors could get married with parental permission in Florida, and children of any age could be married with the permission of a county judge if a pregnancy was involved.[1] While the first judge refused to license the marriage of a child so young—though it was legal—a second judge agreed to grant the license and Johnson was married to Tolbert on 29 March 1979 at age 11. Johnson had six children by the time she was 17 years old, and had to drop out of school after ninth grade to raise them. At age 17, she sought help from Legal Aid Society, which gave her $75 to pay for an attorney for her divorce [2][1]

Now Baylor - *That's* whataboutism. But notice the religion involved. Just like the various other Christian child abuse cases and institutional facilitation of this.

The problem isn't Islam. In most* cases it's not just the religion. It's sex offenders finding ways to facilitate their abuse, and many members of organisations aiming to protect the reputation of the organisation rather than the victims.

*There are some sects or cults where that is the case - and the higher-ranking members do claim the right to rape people.

...... I see a whole lot of faux outrage over "the behaviour of US police officers".........

It's not faux (do you understand the word?). It's genuine. Most people here are nauseated by the concept of police shooting the public with impunity, and disgusted that this murder is directed disproportionately at specific demographics.

I haven't seen one thread about Rotherham rape gangs.

Or Rochdale
Or Teldford
Or Oxfordshire
Or Bristol
Or Derby
Or Newcastle

Yet I see a whole lot of faux outrage over "the behaviour of US police officers" and Trump allegedly locking children in cages. Even feigning concern over girls getting raped in your own country by brown people isn't conducive to the "not racist" peacocking you people love so much.

Class - note how this doesn't actually address what I said, so this is an example of what is known as a non sequitur.

No the point of this thread is to have a good laugh at wilful ignorance, and have a good laugh at dicking around with some bigits.

Well said. Especially the highlighted. I am proud to live in a country where the police shooting of a terrorist during an attack is automatically investigated - and found to be a lawful killing. That is the right platform to assess the legality of such an event.

I get people here think EDL=bad. But they have every right to not want another mosque in their city. It's perfectly normal to want to resist a foreign people with a different language, religion, values moving into your country by the millions. You're the weird one for not caring.
Well, My Mum is from scotland and my dad is from Northern ireland, when I was a child born and growing up in england I was told on various occasions to go back to where I came from, which is frankly ridiculous.
So I guess nothing much has changed for some people.

You're an abomination in the eyes of god!

How do you work out the UK is YOUR country?

No. What I'm saying is her post is pseudointellectual psychobabble, so is yours. She didn't even understand the context of the comment she was replying to.

No, it is not, it is the careful research of sociologists. One of the best current books on the market is by social historian, Claire Wills, herself the offspring of Irish immigrants.*

Wills is a distinguished historian of 20th‑century Ireland and she has a special talent for gleaning heartbreaking quotations, not least John Healy’s account of the emigrant train out of Mayo: “The Guard’s door slamming shut was the breaking point: like the first clatter of stones and sand on a coffin, it signalled the finality of the old life. The young girls clutched and clung and wept in a frenzy.” Or HL Morrow’s description of Irish workers on the mailboat to England: “Wretched-looking. The song knocked out of them. As they stumbled on board I noticed why: Each wore a label – like stock cattle. ‘British Factories,’ it said, simply. As if on their way to be spam-canned.”
Lovers and Strangers: An Immigrant History of Post-war Britain by Clair Wills (Allen Lane, £25

She covers every type of immigrant. She catalogues how the Irish men soon got a reputation for street fighting. Does this mean, 'the Irish are streetfighters'..?

I wish you would inform yourself instead of indulging in knee jerk irrational prejudice.

If the police and social workers weren't cowards and had done their job in the first place those girls wouldn't have been raped in the first place. That's the pertinent issue here.

You people and your whataboutisms.

That is very silly. The whole point about crime is that it is covert. That's why we have police and laws and courts to back them up.

Pseudointellectual nonsense. Never once did I say "Being Muslim causes people to rape." The argument is, "Muslims rape."

So you're adamant that being Muslim doesn't make people rape and being a rapist doesn't make them Muslim.

So what's your argument? "Muslims rape", when you say there's no causal relationship between the two, isn't an argument, it's a pointless observation. Like "Belgians sneeze" or "horses fart".

No. It's not a "my feelings are hurt" argument. You people keep saying I don't know anything about the UK. Well, switching countries, we feel the exact way about you--if not more strongly.

However the most important aspect of the thread, for those that are driving it, is as a tool for wind up merchants. You can tell from the way any questions that would conclusively give the lie to their position are studiously ignored until they go away.
Wrong again. I have a lot of people replying to me. Most, if not all are insincere. I have no intention of playing the "if I get the last word I win" game.

They wield, with relish, their largest stirring spoons and don't actually care about logic or honest debate. Therefore, just get out of the pot.
Someone in the current year has opinions that deviates from what I deem acceptable.

Stop the pseudointellectual ramblings, read the original post vixen was replying to and you'll see she's making no sense.
