Aren’t there programs that can analyze word usage and sentence structure and then compare that to known samples to produce probable matches?

I’ll bet someone’s at work at that already!

Already see evidence of that. Not only the administration wants to know. But Mr./Ms. Anonymous needs a cool nickname -- "Deep Throat" is already taken.

...

Is the intel community rebellion so extreme they're not going to tell Trump who it is even if he demands it? They'll just be like "No idea, Boss! Whoever it was must have written it on paper and sent it by carrier pigeon!"
One can hope.

I'm OK with that. However, even just a minute ago The PDJT is threatening legal action. Unfortunately, he's in a position where he might be able to do something about it.
He's probably out of lawyers who are willing to work on his behalf.

And if he tries to invoke national security ... well, I think the fact that this was published indicates that to a sizeable segment of his staff, the bigger threat to national security is Trump himself.

One would hope that this truly mind-boggling op-ed piece would put to rest once and for all the fantasy promoted by Trump cultists that widespread, intense anti-Trump sentiments are a leftist/deep state/TDS/fake news phenomenon.

One might also hope for a pony.

It gets out of our White House and it puts the lotion on it's skin or it gets the hose.

Seems to me that most people wanting to use that insult would just use the word "retarded". Given its meaning, it seems that the addition of "mentally" is rather redundant. So, perhaps it's significant that on Howard Stern’s show Trump once said the following:

There's also a link in that article to another time Trump called someone "retarded" on Howard Stern’s show. Rather puts the lie to the idea that he has "never used those terms on anyone".
Fake Jews!

Speculation is that it is Dan Coats who is just out of f's to give especially since his old friend, John McCain, is now dead.

But I wonder if it was actually a collaborative piece.

Anonymous opinion piece in the NYT by someone in the Trump White House

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/05/opinion/trump-white-house-anonymous-resistance.html

Claims that a number of officials are deliberately tempering Trump's worst instincts. Not a very charitable description.

I found the comments to that Oe-Ed to just as interesting as the piece itself. Most that I read pointed out that the author is a coward, not a hero, and is not protecting the country as he claims to be doing.

I hope so.

The illustration that ran with the NYT op-ed piece was spot on. Trump can only be president if there's a shadow administration curbing his recklessness. It is that recklessness, and not incompetence, that worries me the most. But just knowing there are grownups in the White House isn't enough. The real remedy here is voters. It's pointless to try to "school" Trump but I would love for the GOP-controlled Congress to learn that it's not bulletproof. Hard to believe they are hitching their political stars to someone as awful as Trump; but it will be orders of magnitude worse if it works.

.@PressSec: "The individual behind this piece has chosen to deceive, rather than support, the duly elected President of the United States. He is not putting country first, but putting himself and his ego ahead of the will of the American people."
Close, but quite right. He is putting his political agenda ahead of the country. That agenda coincides with the GOP, obviously. He enables things to happen that he approves of but deters those that he doesn't. He, an unelected official.

I hope he gets exposed and fired.

I think it's John Kelly.

Whoever wrote this is a self-serving grade A piece of ****.
"Saving the country" my ass, they think they are so clever as to be able to trick the President into doing only what they want, and instead of feeling like treasonous scum they pat themselves on the back fro being patriots.
Invoking the 25th is in the Constitution so it is just a lie to say that triggering it would cause a constitutional crisis. They are only worried about the backlash from Trump fanatics, and not about the well-being of the country.
Pathetic.

I think they're only worried about getting their judges.

I think he might have been deeply emotionally effected by the McCain funeral, and he's not caring about strategy at the moment.
Considering the thought and planning he put into his own funeral, perhaps Senator McCain drafted a little extra something that was then placed on The NY Times’s doorstep and tagged: “To Be Opened On The Occasion Of My Death.”
