"Join me tomorrow night at 7:00pm MDT in Billings, Montana for a MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY! Get your tickets here:
www.donaldjtrump.com/rallies/montana-sep-2018/"

Just under 55 years ago, I attended a speech by JFK in that very town. Played "Hail to the Chief" as a member of the HS Band. Could have shaken his hand had I not been too chicken to stick mine out.

How far has my hometown fallen!

He thinks he personally is the country, and constitution, and the government.
Trump is exactly why the founders put such tight constraints on what constitutes treason in the US. In their general philosophy treason trials had too often been a Tool of Tyranny, with references going back to classical times. Trump reaches for it instinctively - when Democrats don't applaud him enthusiastically enough, for instance.

Is the executive branch over the NSA and the other 3 letter intel acronym agencies?

Is the intel community rebellion so extreme they're not going to tell Trump who it is even if he demands it? They'll just be like "No idea, Boss! Whoever it was must have written it on paper and sent it by carrier pigeon!"

It's using his position as President to sell tickets to his events through his own website that I think is a bit off.

How cheap is he?

And of course the irony is that Trump wrath is just going to mean even bigger sales for Woodward's book when it comes out next week...he is giving Woorward the kind of marketing and publicity that Woodward could not afford to buy in a million years. You think a guy who thinks he is such a marketing genius would know better.
I think it's fair to say that everyone who buys political books was going to buy this one anyway.

re: the Op-ed piece.
It says "we". Perhaps more than one person had a hand in writing it.

(psssst! They're free...)

Not that donations wouldn't be freely accepted.

I think that since you can get them online, thousands of people who have no intention of going should reserve a spot.

They were also just allergic to kings.
See: "l'état, c'est moi"

They were really into "division of powers".

I must confess to a tingly sense of anticipation. I have no idea how this will all work out, but it is certain to be interesting. This must get Trump where it really hurts. I only hope that there is enough bubblewrap at the Whitehouse to keep him from doing anything really dangerous to the country as he foams at the mouth, raves, swears, and stomps around tonight and over the next few days.

I have no doubt that most of Trump's "supporters" in the Whitehouse and in Congress actually despise and hate him. Many have made a conscious deal with the devil to try to exploit him for their own purposes, but many are just afraid of him and will turn on him as soon as they sense he is weak enough to allow them to do so. I wonder if just a few more of the people quoted in the book are brave enough to go public it might convince the others to do so too. "Hell, I'm tired of pretending otherwise and covering for him. Yes, yes, we all know that he is actually a dangerous and stupid piece of scum. I'm sorry I ever pretended otherwise. Oh thank god - I finally can start to feel clean again."

Perhaps the literary reference should not be "Julius Caesar" but "The Emperor has no Clothes." Impeachment or 25 amendment?

I can dream, right?

CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins tweet today:

"Wow. Asked if he has confidence in Jeff Sessions, Vice President Mike Pence says, “I hold Jeff Sessions in the highest regard. I appreciate his service to the nation."

I can't find any response from him on either the book or this op-ed.

I wish everyone would stop bringing up the 25th amendment. The process requires a 2/3rds vote by Congress to make a forced removal from office permanent. Its invocation by the Cabinet wouldn't be worth the chaos if the end result was at most a month's break from the animal-in-chief.

The cons i have for this being Pence are:

1. It hurts the midterms. Why not wait 2 months?
2. If art. 25 was enacted before 1/2 way through (Jan 2019), then he only gets one chance to run. If he waits, he gets 2. ...and it wont happen in the current congress anyway.
3. He cannot write this, be found out, and expect to actually ascend to the office of President. At some point he must confirm or deny, and the NYT knows who it is.

I expect Trump to ask all senior officials to make a public statement. I'm sure some heads will roll out of the WH soon.

eta: As to #1 & 2 it occurs to me that the strategy could be to flip both houses, and have some Repubs who want Pence to vote with democrats. That's the only real way Trump gets out (barring some health reason)

Trump was paranoid before believing some were out to get him. Now? He will be going nuts suspecting everyone. It will be worse than usual being anywhere near Trump for the next several days/weeks. Man, I wish I could be a fly on the wall!

I think he might have been deeply emotionally effected by the McCain funeral, and he's not caring about strategy at the moment.
