Trump is flushing down the Toilet 150 years of Canadain American Friendship .
He doesn't care about maintaining interstate relations. There is no reason to think he will ever give a **** about maintaining good international relations...well, except for our relations with criminal dictatorships.

The Steele dossier may have got this thing rolling

Err, better to throw that claim out the window completely. Papadopoulos' words being relayed to the proper authorities got this thing rolling, by the look of it. The focus on the Dossier at all is little more than an attempt at diversion, because that was the major first thing that appeared in more public media, and because it can indirectly be linked to the overwhelmingly evil Clintons. The more focus they keep on that, the more they can justify themselves in hiding from the increasingly overwhelming fact that they've got nothing of value to work with to counter any of it except blind faith.

That's fine. I said 'may have'. I believe the Intelligence agencies had the Steele Dossier before the election or in December of 2016. It really was irrelevant. Intelligence agencies get raw intelligence all the time. There were lots of red flags including evidence of the hacking from the NSA and cyber crimes.

Trump is so full of **** with EVERYTHING he tweets and says. I don't understand why anyone would EVER believe that POS.

IIRC, the very first indication that something was wrong was when GCHQ and other foreign intelligence agencies were monitoring the telephones of Russian spies and found that they kept being called by the Trump Organisation.

I see the Steele dossier as the equivalent of a tip-off that alerted authorities and thus led to further investigation. Kind of like the way one of a beat cop's 'snouts' might give him word of a heist that just went down.

But even then, if nothing else Papadopoulos' drunken admission to an Aussie diplomat was more than enough to open that door.

This clinging by Trumpettes to the notion that the Dossier is that upon which all else hinges is just farcical.
You have that backward. PapaD's loose lips started the investigation. The dossier only enforced the need.

The Steele dossier may have got this thing rolling but more than anything it's all the lies told by everyone that spurred this on. ...
This shows how pervasive Trump's constant propaganda about the dossier and the Mueller probe is.

The dossier did NOT get "this thing started."

NYT: FACT CHECK OF THE DAY - Trump Falsely Claims Russia Investigation Started Because of Steele Dossier
President Trump has repeatedly pointed to the findings of a House Intelligence Committee report to insist his campaign did not collude with Russia. But that same report concludes that the inquiry began with a diplomat’s tip about a Trump campaign adviser — not the salacious findings of a former British spy. ...

Quoting a conservative commentator who appeared on Fox and Friends on Monday morning, Mr. Trump claimed that the F.B.I. began investigating links between his presidential campaign and Russian election meddling based on a dossier compiled by Christopher Steele, a former British spy.

As The New York Times reported in December, the investigation began in July 2016 — after George Papadopoulos, a Trump campaign foreign policy adviser, told an Australian diplomat that Russia had political “dirt” on Hillary Clinton. Australian officials then alerted their American counterparts.

Yes.

Guardian: British spies were first to spot Trump team's links with Russia - Exclusive: GCHQ is said to have alerted US agencies after becoming aware of contacts in 2015
GCHQ first became aware in late 2015 of suspicious “interactions” between figures connected to Trump and known or suspected Russian agents, a source close to UK intelligence said. This intelligence was passed to the US as part of a routine exchange of information, they added.

Over the next six months, until summer 2016, a number of western agencies shared further information on contacts between Trump’s inner circle and Russians, sources said.

Why the FBI didn't make this public before the election is a travesty. I suspect history will not treat Comey kindly.

Proof once again that Trump gets his info from watching FOX News and is not interested in facts. As a song spoof entitled "Confounds the Science" (based on "Sounds of Silence") says:

Hello darkness, my old friend,
It's time for him to tweet again.
But first he'll have to check in with Fox News
Cause that's the only place he gets his views...

I would love to have been a fly on the wall when Trump heard those comments by Obama, Meghan McCain, and GWB. It doesn't take a stretch of the imagination to picture his reaction.

And since the local Trump echo echoed the same thing about the Steele dossier, they are all vibrating on the same frequency. Fox News: Big Brother TV for the modern era.

Man ,did Meghan McCain rip into Trump in her eulogy.

And so perfectly done. Classy, truthful, heartfelt, and both touching and powerful at the same time.

My best guess is that Trump was not listening to the service live, but who knows given his ego? In any case he will eventually hear her eulogy and I wonder if the White House physician will need to be called.

Actually Ginger, I never believed it did. I was just saying 'may' or 'if' as putting in a caveat about things I did not know for sure. This is something Trump wouldn't do.

What began the inquiries into Russian meddling is irrelevant. My point was the utter NONSENSE of Trump's claim that his 4th Amendment right against unlawful search and seizure was violated even if the initial inquiries were based on questionable data.

This isn't the fruit of the poisonous tree or anything close to that. It's actually embarrassing that he would make such a stupid argument. This is pure unadulterated desperation.

Maybe, as it was John McCain's funeral, there is a case to make supporting all the political wordslinging.

I started watching Aretha Franklin's funeral, which went on...and on... and on...and then some 'shouty' guy came on ranting about 'the orange dictator' and making offensive references to ethnicity.

Really? Come on, guys, this is a funeral. Have some respect and decorum towards the deceased.

I expected to see the front row packed with famous artists that worked with or were inspired by Franklin's stellar career.

Instead, it was Louis Farrakhan, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Bill Clinton -- the most divisive collection of swindlers and reprobates on the planet.

Aretha Franklin deserved better -- a lot better.
