Apparently, Lanny Davis says he was CNN's source about Cohen knowing that Trump knew about the Trump Tower meeting before the meeting. Now Lanny is saying he made it up.

...

..

Therefore, Trump is innocent!! (which I don't believe at all, I'm sure Trump knew of the meeting)

Trump thinks that Google News should be investigated and possibly prosecuted for not showing enough positive stories about him in their search results.

"Google search results for “Trump News” shows only the viewing/reporting of Fake New Media," he wrote on Twitter. "In other words, they have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD. Fake CNN is prominent. Republican/Conservative & Fair Media is shut out. Illegal?"

"96 per cent of results on 'Trump News' are from National Left-Wing Media, very dangerous," he continued. "Google & others are suppressing voices of Conservatives and hiding information and news that is good. They are controlling what we can & cannot see. This is a very serious situation-will be addressed!"

So, lets get this straight... Trump, the man who seems to have made deregulation and 'freedom' one of the central focuses of his presidency, wants the government (as personally directed) to step in and interfere with the affairs of a private company.

So, any republicans/Trump fans... please explain to me how republicans=freedom, and democrats=government interference.

Because control of the media is vital to the right wing agenda, they need to keep the alternate facts the only ones people have. All right thinking republicans support that.

In the event Slings and Arrows posts, he only quotes someone else so we never get to hear an argument for or against some position and thus no fruitful, or even interesting discussion can ensue. SAD!!
It's a clever tactic - just post a bare quote and then you can abdicate responsibility when things go south.

But it doesn't fool me. If you post a quote with no comment that means you agree with all of it! Or perhaps you think you can get away with making a veiled implication that can be denied later because it wasn't stated outright. Sorry but that won't fly.

And I don't take posts in isolation. Certain posters have shown themselves to be partisan hacks who aren't worth engaging. If Slings and Arrows doesn't want to argue for or against a position then it probably wasn't worth arguing over anyway.

Hardy har har.

Since when has the republican party been about freedom and less government interference ?

The party that demands government to enforce mandatory christian prayer in schools, demands government to add christian creationist beliefs to science curriculums across the country, demands the government to interfere with womens' uteruses and their life choices, demands the government to forbid gay marriage, demands the government to add warning labels on music albums.... etc etc etc.

Yup, that sure screams "freedumb" and "less gooberment" to me alright.

IMHO, Trump has declared war on the First Admendment. And the GOP cheers him on.
I think the term "Fascist" applies.

Oh, I totally agree... the Republicans are far from the defenders of Freedom that they like to portray themselves as being (unless its the second amendment), and are more that willing to interfere with people's lives when they see fit.

I brought it up because:
- The right wing is the one that tries the hardest to wrap themselves up in the banner of 'freedom' (e.g. the "freedom caucus", "Freedom works/Tea party")
- Trump's attack on google is the most recent (and currently visible) attack on personal freedoms

More and more I think if the GOP "wins" the midterms byt 2020 this country will be in state of of upheavel that will make the 60's look mild in comparasion.
A lot of people will think that peaceful legal means of resistence are useless, and turn to other methods.

Well, hate to break a roll on a perfectly ranty rant, but the music label thing comes from Tipper Gore, wife of Democratic VP, and Pres candidate, Al Gore.

I think that's the problem right there.

Republicans figure that by being the defenders of the second amendment, it somehow equates them as the overall "freedom and less government" party.

Non-myopic perspectives aren't exactly their forte... whereas cherry-picking generalizations most certainly are.

It is a trump tactic. Hurl enough at any handy target and everyone will forget that you are incapable of defending yourself. Why does nobody buy it? Why do they think anyone will?
