Cont: The Trump Presidency VIII

Gaslighting Pirro and Lou Dobbs, (Pirro sitting in for Hannity) are telling us how incredibly great of a POTUS Trump is and how the liberal media can't take it.

Merkel's being blackmailed by Putin. Trump was right to advise her to buy energy from "your friends".

Supposedly oil production in the US started under Trump, not Obama.
Gawds... could they please just change FoxNews Corp.'s DBA to "Ministry of Truth" and be done with it? :(

An idea of right and wrong is meaningless without the ability to enforce it.

No. The idea right and wrong is meaningful regardless of the power to enforce the idea. The implementation of rights is where power comes into the equation. I believe that is a necessary distinction that you have glossed over.

It must be a challenge to steer Trump in any direction, but I bet Putin is playing on Trump's nationalism, and the financial cost of these alliances we have, because the one thing that Putin wants more than anything is for us to turn isolationist and break away from our historical closeness with Europe. Then Putin will have free reign in Eastern Europe and the Baltic. Germans and French and British aren't going to die for Estonia if the U.S. ignores an article V declaration.

That's my thinking on how Putin's manipulating him.
That makes sense. And the U.S. has decided to spend $12 million on a useless parade rather than going ahead with regular joint exercises with South Korea.

Trump wants to increase the military budget but bring all the troops home so he can play toy soldiers.

I keep forgetting how much more in touch with in reality Putin and Xi are. But they would almost have to be, as Trump has no grip whatsoever.

Pirro's (now ex-) husband was convicted of tax fraud in 2000 and spent some time in prison. She was investigated for soliciting to illegally wiretap his boat when she thought he was cheating on her. He'd fathered a child with another woman during their marriage previously.
It reminds me of Jared's family.

I hate Trump like I have hated no other person in my lifetime.
The man is evil, pure and simple.
Trump is not purely evil; he is also incompetent.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THAT!

Classic use of Gilbert and Sullivan.
That was cute. Thanks SezMe.

Plus it neglects the powerful influencing factor given via the evil stare from a mom. Sometimes power comes in non-violent forms...

A conservative columnist says he would take the Democrat back in a "nanosecond."

Max Boot wrote:
Now I would take Obama back in a nanosecond. His presidency appears to be a lost golden age when reason and morality reigned. All of his faults, real as they were, fade into insignificance compared with the crippling defects of his successor. And his strengths — seriousness, dignity, intellect, probity, dedication to ideals larger than self — shine all the more clearly in retrospect.
Those thoughts are prompted by watching Obama’s speech in South Africa on the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s birth. I was moved nearly to tears by his eloquent defense of a liberal world order that President Trump appears bent on destroying.

Top CIA official says China waging ‘cold war’ to replace U.S. as leading global power

Who cares? That is nothing, absolutely nothing, compared to the treasonous war Confederates are making on the Union, which is now in full decline at top speed. Soft power? Gone, spent, and not only forgotten, but dismissed as weak. Hard power? Still there, still dependent on rapid innovation and cash. See all those immigrant names on top science and tech papers? Soon to be attached to documents from anywhere except the US. See the trade deficit? Due, among other factors, to rejecting emerging industries tied to climate change and sustainability, along with committing the sin Adam Smith said the "invisible hand of the market" would prevent ("enlightened übermensch" are more mythical than unicorns): citizens shipping production offshore to import the exact same goods instead of paying local labor, aka, slow suicide.

You know, Mumbles, I've never been able to tell if that is her real speaking voice or a put on for the power-loving Fox audience. Does anyone have any insight into that?

I'd like to know if anyone has real insight, but I assumed that she's even more of a ham than Keith Olbermann at his worst - it's one major reason I simply can't take anything she says as honest.

Pisses me off that this witch was clocked doing 119 in a 65 mph zone and was allowed to bargain down to doing 90 mph. Something seems ... off.

Fox News' Jeanine Pirro pleads guilty to 95 mph speeding ticket, down from 119 mph

That should have been charged as a felony IMO. It shows how much of a **** she gives about other people's safety. And her own, actually.

Yep. But she apparently was a judge, so I assume she's connected.
