I'm not a Trumpist. I disagree with some of his policies and I acknowledge that he's got his warts.
But the immigrants are partially at fault for their predicament. Even if you disagree.
We've never seen anything like this assault on democratic institutions, and the lack of basic decency on display, all fervently supported by the Trump cult. I don't have context to draw upon. But is sure seems this way.
All my life I've blithely assumed that American democracy was a fixture set in stone, regardless the imperfections. I don't think that anymore. Now it seems fragile.
I hope the media keep up the pressure on this story. The executive order seems to have a lot of wiggle room, as well as seemingly allowing for indefinite detention of these people.
The US Border Farce would probably spend a lot less money and effort actually making more legitimate border crossings and staff available to process would-be immigrants properly.
Instead, they seem to be concentrating on funding a whole bunch of pseudo-Texas-rangers and prison camps to chase down and hold all these assumed illegals, all of which cost a LOT of money to operate.
So not only is it inhumane, it is economically bust as well. One would think it is really a politically-motivated make-work for a bunch of know-nothing gum-chewing thick-headed loud-mouth Trump-voters.
What atrocities befell the children who were detained while their parents were being processed? No responsibility on the shoulders of the parents who put their children in that predicament?
And that's because, what, they made a decision to flee from threats of death, or, they didn't go to one of those ports of entry they couldn't get close to?
I'm sure what you describe happens at times, but when I was trying to learn more about the motivation of these illegal immigrants, it looked like more were trying to come to the US to work and that they felt it was beneficial to the US and an honorable thing to do.
Probably because they've already lost track and have no idea how to actually accomplish that.President Donald Trump's executive order reversing course on family separations has not changed anything in terms of putting back together families that have already been separated, a government official confirmed

They're all detained because otherwise it's "catch and release," a scary phrase used to imply that la migra is powerless to detain criminals. The US doesn't jail immigrants, illegal or not. They detain them and then deport them. Why do you think the US should jail immigrants without due process?
I still don't get how they are responsible for how we as Americans react to their presence. And so, the question, and the test:
What are they supposed to do?
Are they still "at fault" if they remain in an area where violent gangs rampage, recruit small children, and so forth? Particularly if these gangs use US-made weapons, and ar funded by US drug use or US covert operations (less a thing today than it used to be)?
Or how about if they're, say, in a war zone that is partially funded by the US - such as in Syria? Are they "at fault" if they remain in a bombed-out city?
And keep in mind that in each case "stay and fix it" is not an option.
Hey if they didn't work harder for less money there would be no illegal immigrants. That's their real crime; they are busting the union.I'm sure what you describe happens at times, but when I was trying to learn more about the motivation of these illegal immigrants, it looked like more were trying to come to the US to work and that they felt it was beneficial to the US and an honorable thing to do.
