Roseanne Barr off the air

What's the relevance of the fact that White people bear a greater resemblance to apes than black people do? You must've had some reason for pointing that out and in today's diverse multicultural post-racial milieu, everything is racial.

Bill Maher's hate filled screeds comparing the democratically elected leader of the free world to an orangutan has been surpassed by Samantha Bee calling Ivanka a feckless **** and advising her that she should use her sexuality to influence her father's immigration policies in pure offensiveness.

Awwwww, widdle feewings be hurted by the mean truthtelling comedians...…………...

This is still nonsense. Whatever your problems with Trump's policies, and her role in them, that must be able to stand independent of this picture. And you should be able to criticize it independent of the picture. There's nothing actually wrong with the picture, so why would the picture piss people off?

Because Trump. That's the full extent of the actual reasoning here.

Yes, absolutely "Because Trump." Because Trump is the President, and his policies and pronouncements have an impact on every American and everyone in the world. Ivanka's picture is not some stock "mom and baby" pic from a Walmart ad. It is a staged political statement: "I'm a loving Mom, just like every other loving Mom." She has a long history of playing the "I'm just a daughter/ I'm the President's surrogate" cards whenever they suit her. She is a senior presidential adviser who shares responsibility for Trump's policies, and some of those policies have been cruel and devastating to other "loving Moms" and their babies.

Such all-consuming bitterness isn't healthy. It's not even politically productive. Sad.

Wait, why can't we use context from outside the picture?

I don't recall Maher comparing Angela Merkel to an orangutan.

Ohhh, you actually think the president of the US is still considered a "leader" by anyone except a small percentage of clueless Americans.
How cute.

I suppose people are a little mad over the juxtaposition of POTUS's daughter tweeting a motherly photo, while at the same time the administration's policies are tearing families apart. And of course there's the racial angle: white woman and child, safe; brown women and children, separated, with the kids (hopefully) floating around somewhere in the foster care system.

That thing in the Whitehouse was elected by the Electoral College, the voters had the good sense to reject him. And, that vile, feckless **** of a daughter should appeal to whatever prurient interest the disgusting orange ape has for the good of the country. That thing who spawned her has already called her a nice piece of ass. They're just Trumps; they aren't people and no rules apply.

She isn't responsible for the juxtaposition, since nothing has actually changed recently. And the racial angle is bull ****. Blaming people for being white is garbage. Blaming people for being safe is also garbage.

If you want to be offended, you will find offense everywhere. But that's no way to go through life.

Wait, why can't we use context from outside the picture?

Because there are an infinitude of possible contexts one could apply to any photo, once one stops caring about the actual context of the photo itself. Which context is valid? The one that makes your opponent look the worst?

The picture is not the real issue, and you aren't addressing the real issue by complaining about it. You're a hypocrite.

What do you suppose we are paying our tax dollars to Ivanka for? What does she do in the WH exactly?

You are more upset that I find the picture incredibly insensitive at a time when our government is ordering children taken from parents, some who entered the country and asked asylum; while you don't seem the least bit upset at the criminal enterprise that occupies the WH.

For any work, the author is dead once it is released. All context is up to the viewer.

Because nothing is worse than a mother taking a picture with her child. #whitewomen, amirite?

Aww, you're going to continue this embarrassing attempt to embarrass the other side? Really?

Ivanka Trump has made much noise (and not much more than noise) about being out there for us on women's issues. (Would that she'd made it clear that she meant "ME woman issues", but that's for the Let's Bash The Feckless **** thread. Maybe when we finish calling Hillary and Avenatti names we could start that one.)

And in the midst of a few-day period when INS/HSC are in the news for what appears to be intentionally splitting small children from their parents as a cudgel, she celebrates International Privileged White Mother's Day with a cloying picture of her snuggling with her son. It rankled because there are moms in detention centers who not only cannot snuggle with their sons but who don't even know where their sons are, 'cuz 'Vankie's daddy's dementors seem to have misplaced fifteen hundred of them.

It's the tone deaf thing, again. And you know it. But we're going to award another 11 points to Hufflepuff for Valiant Effort to Virtue Signal the Champion Virtue Signalers of the Left.

Is she on salary? I did not think she was.
Oh no, they supposedly forego salaries (though one has to check to be sure because Trump didn't donate his to any charities until the press exposed him).

But who pays for her travel, the security detail, the car, the free office, any hobnobbing she chooses to do like go to the winter olympics and China to do business deals. I bet she even charges her wardrobe and buys the clothes from herself.

Yakima Herald, a local paper: Ivanka burnishes brand at taxpayer expense
To be clear, Ivanka Trump no longer manages her company, which she placed in a family-run trust while she serves in the White House. But she still enjoys profits and “Ivanka Trump” is expanding during what amounts to a worldwide advertising campaign — at taxpayer expense.

Independent: Ivanka Trump's family skiing 'funded by the taxpayer'
President Donald Trump’s daughter, her husband Jared Kushner, their children and the President’s other son Eric reportedly required 100 Secret Service agents to travel with the group for the trip.

The US Secret Service, funded by the US taxpayer, is reported to have spent $12,208 on rental ski equipment and clothing at the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club....

Despite the fact the Trump children have taken a number of holidays in the lavish Aspen resort over the years, Mr Trump previously criticised former First Lady Michelle Obama’s trip to the same location, claiming it cost taxpayers substantial amounts of money.

“With 15 per cent US real unemployment and a 16T debt, @Michelle Obama's luxurious Aspen vacation - her 16th - cost us over $1m,” he claimed on Twitter in July 2012....
Etc.

She keeps under the radar but she's getting plenty of perks besides the salary, expecially given she hasn't done much.

I think Samantha Bee is cuntier than Ivanka. Ivanka feels more like an airheaded attention-whoring narcissist who can get along with evil just fine if it furthered the pursuit of fame and fortune.

The difference between Bee's comment and Barr's (or Maher's and Barr's) is so obvious that the political right suffers from moral blindness. It's sort of like haranguing Avenatti while Trump continues to do what he's been doing. Remember when Republicans used to believe the president could be indicted for obstruction of justice?
