Roseanne Barr off the air

I don't think the show could work without her. You can't write her out because it will still be about her. That sounds illogical but it isn't. If you remove her the show becomes "Without Rosanne", which is still about Rosanne.

Because society has just decided to discard her as trash that show has to be discarded in any form as well.

They could follow the route that NBC used after their dispute with Valerie Harper in the 80s. She was killed off on of her own show, "Valerie", which became "Valerie's Family" for a while, with Sandy Duncan as the original character's sister, and then it became "The Hogan Family".

Years from now teenage kids will huddle around the basement tv to secretly watch Cosby and Rosanne instead of Porky's.

I sincerely think she may have mental problems with self-control. This happens to many people.

Though, as pointed out above, drugs, alcohol, whatever, doesn't produce racism that's already there.

She basically apologized for saying on a public forum what she was thinking anyway.

Disney did the right thing, but still, between the Barr firing and "Solo" bombing at the box office, it has not been a good week for the Mouse.

Jason Bateman survived that well. (Addressing the question of co-stars moving on.) Most of them have their own careers already, or didn't act anymore (I think the son was brought back.)

The young actors probably got the shaft. A big venue for a short time.

If only they had another movie currently out that's set to make over $2 billion worldwide...

Yeah, but Deadpool 2 more than made up for it.

Really, Disney has gotten so massive and owns so many properties that I doubt this is more than a minor financial irritation for them.

Disney gets little, if anything, directly from Deadpool since Marvel sold the X-Men license for a song so many years ago. Avengers Infinity War, on the other hand, pretty much pays for every other Disney movie this year, even if every one of them bombs.

Didn't Disney reacquire the X-Men license when they bought Fox?

If other movies made what Solo is taking in they'd be ecstatic.

Everyone I know wants to see it but they all have to wait for payday this week.

That deal is not done and there's no guarantee it will go through.

Jesus, this **** gives me a headache. Thanks for the correction, though.

For a sufficiently wide definition of bombing.

Believe it or not, a lot sitcoms have dealt with a lot of social issues and are more drama than comedy.

And that's when the shows are usually at their cringiest. "ABC presents: A very special episode of Home Improvement..."

Yes and no. Comedians usually opt for characters with their names because you want to push the brand forward.

But it's not just comedians. Charlie Sheen was Charlie on his show(s?) -- probably because he'd forget his whoring character's name. "Oh yeah, I'm me..."

It reminds me of the period when Disney animated movies were being written off as failures because they were making a lot of money, but not as much as "The Lion King".

I thought 'Solo' was, well, a luke-warm ok movie. I thought 'Rogue One' was really good. Yet the main SW-serie films, ep 7-8, went from 'ok' to 'wtf?!'. With the risk of begging the question, also while further derailing... why did Disney make better off-shot films of SW than they put in the muster of the actual sequals?! :eye-poppi

This is why I have such sneering contempt for Trumpkins:

"Roseanne' fans call for Bill Maher to be fired after he joked Trump is part orangutan"
http://www.foxnews.com/entertainmen...ired-after-joked-trump-is-part-orangutan.html

Are they that culturally tone-deaf and stupid as to not know the difference between the two? Either that, or they don't care about the difference. Either way, they're deplorable.

Bigotry is bigotry. You shouldn't get a free pass just because your particular brand of irrational hatred isn't "racist".
