Roseanne Barr off the air

I think he has some problematic views, likely influenced from his father, regarding that bit. I actually didn't follow the domestic-abuse case too closely. Right off the bat, I remember how the tapes recorded (by Oksana) were found altered/doctored/edited and after his first wife said he had never behaved as such with her or their children during their years together. Regardless, all I need to know about him, in order to find it probable that he has hit and/or threatened a woman, is that he had severe drinking problems, strong conservative views and... that he is a man. That's almost, not quite but almost, a point of very high probability that he has in fact been directly responsible for domestic violence. And I give him no passes for it.
 
So after her apology, non-withdrawal withdrawal from twitter, claims that "it was the drugs", and after Trump tweeted something about how "why would ABC apologize to Jarret and not me?", Rosanne has posted the following:

"i feel bad for @POTUS-he goes thru this every single day"

Reaaaaallly stupid thing to do.

Trump is a racist. Rational people know he's a racist. If you're trying to make yourself seem like an innocent person who just made a drug-induced mistake, perhaps you shouldn't try to equate your situation to his.

If she really wanted to paint a picture of her as a non-racist who just made a mistake, she would go on the offensive. Perhaps post something to Trump along the lines of "It was understandable for ABC to apologize to Jarret. And its also right for them to criticize you."

I've seen at least one article seriously suggesting this, keep the show but write Roseanne herself out.
 
Years from now teenage kids will huddle around the basement tv to secretly watch Cosby and Rosanne instead of Porky's.

I don't think the show could work without her. You can't write her out because it will still be about her. That sounds illogical but it isn't. If you remove her the show becomes "Without Rosanne", which is still about Rosanne.

Because society has just decided to discard her as trash that show has to be discarded in any form as well.

It is impossible to say if that is a trend that would continue though. The fact of the matter is that even after losing nearly half the original viewership, those ratings are still pretty amazing in the current network TV environment.

Hell, those numbers could halve again, and the show would still be a pretty high performing show in today's environment.

I think more important to ABC were two considerations: First, plenty of advertisers would not want to be associated with Roseanne, making ad spots hard to sell despite it's popularity. Second, backlash against Roseanne could end up hurting the ratings of other shows, making their ad spots harder to sell/less lucrative. This is related to the first point in that other shows could lose viewership because Roseanne would taint ABC's brand in the eyes of many, and just like their advertisers, they don't want that.

A loose meat explosion. That's right, I watched version 1 for a while.

It's easy to lament the modern gossip press, especially when combined with social media. While it's an absolutely good thing when it comes to hopefully curbing some of the worst excesses of the rich, powerful, and famous, I'd really rather not know who the entertainers really are...

Frankly I question whether Roseanne was taking Ambien at all, rather than being drunk or just being her unmedicated nasty stupid self. But neither Ambien nor alcohol make you into something you are not. They do not make someone a racist- they only can make it more likely that the racist will share their real feelings with others. Given Ms. Barr's long prior history of tweets and other public statements, there is no question that her most recent tweets once again only revealed her true obnoxious self. And that her "inhibitions" against insulting and belittling other people while propagating insane conspiracy theories are extraordinarily low even at the best of times.

I am also confident, by now, to be able to determine what is her own views and sentiments and what might be caused by synaptic-transmitter chaos.

My long time girlfriend is severely bipolar. It took a while for her to be diagnosed and be put on what seems to be the right medicine. There are 2 very different sides to her. The times where she has had a sever episode, she has beat the crap out of me and many other horrible things. I've seen pure evil and hate from her. The other side of her would never do those things. If I believed in demonic possession, I would swear she was possessed.

As to Roseanne, I think the pills just made her not care and she said or tweeted what she was already thinking.
