If they stop rerunning her past shows, she stops getting payments from them as a performer. If she actually owned a piece of her show, that would be a different source of income. Either way, if they cancel reruns she loses money.

It's ridiculous. It is a sitcom and she played a character in it (Albeit the star and it was loosely based on her stage act)

Canceling her show currently was ballsy and awesome) but we will applaud these organizations (and by extension ourselves for giving up our treasured rosanne reruns. What a sacrifice, we are truly fighting histories greatest battles) and give them free publicity so we can feel like we had a hand in sticking it to her.

Everything has became such a circle jerk when it comes to politics it makes me sick.

I take that back. The deal was agreed to but hasn't gone through yet and now Comcast has apparently started a bidding war. In any case, the Murdoch's are getting out of Fox entertainment, which hasn't really been a hotbed of conservative activism anyhow.

I tried to find out why Barr Tweeted about Jarrett now. There's an odd link between Barr's CT about a government mind control program that supposedly targeted Hollywood actors and a recent Wikileaks post that Jarrett's name appeared in some tangential way.

I have no idea about these sources, it was hard to find anything at all yet.

I find myself somewhat reassured by the observation that so far the mainstream news outlets (and the posters in this thread) largely agree that the tweet was obviously racist and, that taken together with Roseanne Barr's history of bizarre statements, the cancellation of the show was therefore inevitable. Even Fox did not attempt include a defense of Barr or a swipe at "liberals" in their reporting of the event.

I find the whole thing fascinating when I consider that here is a person wholast night was sitting on top of the world, but just 56 characters and a few hours later she is without a job and the object of worldwide condemnation and rejection. A strong reinforcement of what my mom used to tell me: "Think before you say anything."

Hard not to walk away from one's computer shaking one's head thinking, "Stupid ass..."

Eh, I got time.

I'm used to seeing high-profile white people spew white supremacism and antisemitism (and misogyny, and homophobia, and transphobia). Don't know if you know who the current US president is, but he's pretty famous for all of the above. And I'm also used to other white people, even white women or white LGBT folks, eagerly backing that sort of garbage up, saying "Oh, they're not really a bigot", or getting all bent out of shape on their behalf when someone points it out.

So, I'll just say the same thing I always say when one of these clowns gets run off - First, I wasn't outraged by her tweet, but I will be remembering who decided it was worth it (and I mean you too, Wanda Sykes, don't know what you were thinking). And yeah, I will party off of this for a while.

Second, I see conservatives threatening to go after Bill Maher. Oh please don't throw us into that briar patch. Whatever would I do without Maher.

Third, wanna know why I wasn't discussing the Harvard study estimating that the official death toll in Puerto Rico from the hurricane was off by a factor of 70? Because I pretty much expected it, so it's not "news" to me. Remember what I said about Dolt 45 above - he does not care if he could have prevented thousands of Hispanic people from dying. I'm just shocked he wasn't dancing on the balcony on the White House lawn.
