Roseanne Barr off the air

Some quick googling revealed no backstory between Roseanne and Jarrett.

That said, I've always felt she was an idiot, and so this does not come as any shock to me. To be honest, I have been wincing at quite a few of Trump's recently revealed fans--her and Kanye West in particular. Any chance we could get Charlie Sheen to say something nice about Trump? That would complete the trifecta.

I sometimes have a hard time seeing the racism that others find so obvious. But not in this case. Roseanne's dumbness goes to 11.

You already have Scott Baio for that...

I look forward to her show being picked up by Fox.

That might not be such a bad thing, actually.

The show itself was fine. Fox is already pegging the needle, evil-wise, so it's not like giving Barr a job will cost them anything. And like Bob001 pointed out, there's hundreds of hardworking people that don't deserve to be out of work just because their co-worker was a jackass on Twitter.

Doubtful.

According to CNN this morning, the issue wasn't so much the Tweet as sponsors had already been pulling out of season 2 (writing on the wall despite the audience of the first show), but not only that, some of the cast members didn't want stay, didn't want to be associated with the show.

Yeah, it's dead and buried, imo.

Whatever legacy it had is ruined as well.

The thing is that her mindless idiocy has cost hundreds of people -- actors, technicians, administrators -- their jobs overnight in an industry where finding another one won't be so easy. She obviously thought that in the age of Trump -- who has praised her effusively -- blatant racism would carry no consequences.

Yep. I have nothing good to say about Barr herself, but really, all she had to do was keep her racism and conspiracy theories to herself. The fact that she couldn't even manage to not write it up on Twitter, even after landing a big show, has managed to harm the people who worked on that show.

Having said that, I'm not sure why anyone is acting shocked.

If ABC was looking for an excuse, Rosanne gave them a nice big one.
Why would ABC have been looking for an excuse, though? Wasn't the show doing well?
It was doing VERY Well, toping the ratings in various measures, and it had been renewed.

ABC had been quite happy with the show (even with Rosanne's past history and the on-air display of her character being a Trump supporter.)

Isn't she actually mental? Manic/depressive, shizo, kook? etc ?

Not imo.

I remember in my childhood watching a couple of her shows and being grateful that my mother wasn't a b.... like that.

You could be right, I have only seen two or three partial episodes of the old show as reruns, and none of the new season.

Maybe I am thinking of her public life which seems like it was a series of incidents of bad behavior.

Why was Barr having an Internet slapfight with Jarrett in the first place?

Also, am I the only one wondering what an ideological marriage between the Muslim Brotherhood and the Planet of the Apes would look like?

I can't find it, now, but I think she was responding to a tweet by Julian Assange/wikileaks about the CIA (under Obama) spying on French presidential candidates. Not sure why she picked on Jarrett instead of Obama though. Admittedly, I'm not up on my RB rants. It seems as though it's an RB vendetta against Jarrett since she only used her initials in the tweet (and everyone knew who she was referring to).

Which cast members? I head heard that Sara Gilbert commented on how Rosanne's tweets "do not reflect the beliefs of our cast or our crew", but I haven't seen comments by any other actor from the show, or anyone claiming they wanted to leave. (I'm not doubting you, I just hadn't seen anything.)

I did see that one of the writers was planning on leaving before the show got cancelled.
