Comey is a petty idiot

I'd put Comey's rising to head the FBI as a far more meaningful achievement than Trump's being hoist to the Presidency. The former had to work for many years and demonstrate competence. The latter had but to hoodwink sufficient numbers of the electorate over a period of months.

Comey made, or had forced upon him, one misstep of consequence, and paid the price. Trump is an ongoing, unmitigated clusterfrack of monumental dimensions, yet his privileged position shields him--thus far--from the consequences that would have felled others (imagine Obama carrying on thus?), and certainly those in less exalted positions, long since.

Comey has a history of missteps. Which is easy to guess when he so blatantly exposes himself in these public ways.

Such as? Not that i care. But i bet you can't list many. Everyone makes mistakes, but Comey has risen through the ranks of thousands of very qualified individuals to head the FBI. Through both Republican and Democratic administrations. In contrast, Trump knows how to sell and little else.

It's a circle-jerk.

This is a joke. All these Republicans pretending that Trump fired Comey over Hillary. When what Trump wanted was Comey to look the other way on Flynn and be a sycophant.

Very sad.

Quite. Comey's "long history of errors" goes all the way back to July 2016, when he spoke about an ongoing investigation by announcing it was no longer ongoing. Prior to that : nothing. After that : ranting hysteria.

They were apoplectic that Comey didn't keep what EVERYONE knew was a nonsense investigation going so they could destroy Hillary. Now it is faux outrage over the announcement that probably made Trump President? Get serious.

I want to know where the GOP outrage was from that announcement until Comey was fired? A firing that caused Democrats and many Republicans to insist on the appointment of a special counsel.

It seems as if their attack on his credibility is moronic at least and dishonest at worst. I'm leaning towards the latter.

He had a job to do, that's it. If anything got in his way it was his own ego.

Right. It was Comey's sole responsibility to be the only adult in the entire country. Failure to perform flawlessly as the designated adult would inevitably result in the ridiculous quagmire being all his fault.

Whatever though. I'm kind of bothered by everyone writing these tell-all books as soon as they are out of office. Like a bunch of little brats with their "but but but..." How embarrassing to the country. Really dude just stop with the whining and go away.

Yeah, it's a bitch when the scapegoat won't just shut up and slink away, dutifully carrying everyone's burden of guilt along with him like a rugged old cross.

"A Higher Loyalty", "What Happened" - it's just pathetic. If you have to write a book to explain that you aren't actually an idiot, chances are you actually are one.

Right. The two major political parties and all their voters, in a country of 320 million people, which touts itself as the world's greatest democracy, are unable to field one clean candidate between them. But Comey is the idiot.

I was busy and missed most of the interview, but the part I caught was all Comey raking Trump from stem to stern, rather than trying to prove he's not an idiot.

Stated to point out that Comey is not on defense. He's on offense.

I'm sure I've mentioned it but, if Trump had just fired Comey when He first took office and kept his mouth shut, nobody would have question it. At that point Comey had lost support of the right for not charging Hillary and on the left for his Letter about reopening the investigation. Only Trump could have screwed that up.

Since Trump denies having pressured Comey for loyalty, I confidently conclude that Trump did in fact do so. This suggests a desire to keep Comey on as a loyal servant and trophy. This would gall the Democrats and embellish Trump's role of the Sith Master who had seized the White House.

Had he succeeded in turning young Skywalker to the Dark Side, he would have become more intimidating and powerful than we can imagine.

But that was a gross miscalculation and overestimation of his powers. Now he risks Vader turning on him.

Comey getting it wrong.

Comey told interviewer George Stephanopoulos that the FBI was unaware of the salacious and unverified dossier until after the bureau formally opened its counterintelligence investigation of President Donald Trump’s campaign.

The investigation was opened on July 31, 2016. Comey is contradicted by extensive reporting that dossier author Christopher Steele provided the FBI with information from his dossier on July 5, 2016.

I think what is hilarious is Trump calling Comey a liar. Hell it's funny hearing Trump having the gall to call anyone a liar. The question for everyone is this.

Who is more believable? If it was a he said she said situation with Donald Trump and anyone, I can't imagine giving Trump the benefit of the doubt. Seriously? Why would we EVER believe Trump?

Comey's media blitz and I assume his book are nothing but him rationalizing that he wasn't to blame.

He blames Lynch, circumstances he had to address, and of course, it's the voters' fault, not his.

Scumbag is all I see there.

Maddow is catching him on some discrepancies but mostly I can't watch the jerk.

My problem with Mr. Comey is he's weak, as he admits, "Maybe if I had been stronger..." C'mon! you're the FBI director goddammit, how weak do you think you can be in that position?
