Here's the deal thing with Jane Krawkoski's Kimmy Schmidt character: It is ironic because that character's parents, not many generations removed ancestors, are full-blooded Native Americans who gave birth to the whitest, most innately privileged, of characters. That's something that actually is impossible and that is what makes it ironic.

I don't know anything about Krawkoski but it's pretty rare to be full blooded anything for native americans. Maybe some isolated Alaskan or Canadian indigenous folks are still full blooded. Were the parents from any isolated indigenous tribe?

If the child was 'white' then it's more likey the parents were not full blooded. However, that doesn't change your point.

No different than when I disparage my know-it-all son by calling him Einstein.

Just to be clear, when I wrote the above post, I didn't mean the use of "Pocahontas" wasn't fundamentally racist. It surely is. The only female Native American that came to Trump's mind was essentially one out of a Disney cartoon (yes, yes, there was a historical Pocahontas, but no one really believes that Trump was thinking of that figure).

So how is calling someone Einstein in any way the same?

Bullcrap! It was the Democrats who passed the Civil Rights Acts. There is a reason that 90+ percent of African Americans vote Democrat. We're not marrying white woman immigrants and trying to throw out immigrants of color like your President.

And who cares if you know a few blacks that love the fairy tale Jesus? That doesn't change the racism inherent among a large portion of Trump supporters. It doesn't make posts denigrating Native Americans any less racist.

I had this same discussion in another group with a Trump supporter who claimed that it's the Democrats who are the racists. She used as evidence the usual: the Republicans were the party of Lincoln who freed the slaves, etc. When I pointed out that the two parties had basically changed platforms and merely kept the names, she had a conniption fit. I provided citation after citation of historians' and political experts' articles and books as evidence. She provided two YouTube videos by non-historians/non-experts who made the same "party of Lincoln" claims as her evidence. When I pointed out that the vast majority of African-Americans vote Democrat, she claimed it was because they were 1) afraid they'd be lynched by Democrats if they registered Republican and 2) voted Democrat because they were welfare dependent. She also declared that Russian meddling in our elections was "fake news". Some people just want to live in their own little reality and facts be damned.

It’s also an absurdist fictional character in an absurdist fictional world. To my memory, there is no straight man, in the comedic sense, in the entire show.
