The Trump Presidency

And the headline story on the Enquirer's website is about Joe and Mika right now. Hmmm...

It's important to remember that the CEO of American Media, Inc., which publishes the Enquirer, the Examiner, the Globe, and the Star, is one of Trump's golf buddies. That has been shaping their stories for quite a while now.

Done.

Dear xxxxx,

I have been a registered Republican in Georgia for the last 12 years.

I am personally appalled at the behavior of President Trump, culminating in his most recent tweets. I feel this behavior is conduct unbecoming the President of the United States.

I think the time has come for Republicans to speak out. I think President Trump’s recent behavior is deserving of a congressional censure, and I would fully support such an action.

Thank you for your attention,

Edward Benson
Mineral Bluff, GA.

Sent to Senators Isakson and Perdue, and Congressman Collins.

Good on you. Seriously. Now we wait and see if they do anything.

Here's the twitter version:

Watched the low-rated @realDonaldTrump. LIES. Bad president. Has to GO!

Holy **** that is a real thing!?

Yes Mr. Hanson I get your point, Obama was black.

Tucker Carlson has joined him in saying Trump can do what he wants because Obama was black.

The proof that Trump haters don’t actually care about vulgarity is that “they applauded when Barack Obama vacationed with rappers,” Carlson went on.

Cultural conservatives have been obsessed for decades with the idea that rap is a harbinger of societal decline and a degradation of both America’s morality and its sense of aesthetics. Carlson’s yogi reach to render a sitting president’s vitriol and misogyny equivalent to the Obamas’ friendship with Jay-Z and Beyoncé — the First Couple of American pop culture — is flat-out laughable. But it’s also reflective of a genuine belief on the right that the music of black America has debased rather than enriched our national fabric. Which is a pretty racist thing to believe, since it means shutting your ears to the realities of black experience and denying full-stop that the artistic product generated out of those experiences could be worthy of study — could be anything other than literal garbage.

Interesting article but it fails the "so what ?" test IMO.
So ... the Trump disaster. And don't kid yourself, this is a disaster. And no, he would not be re-elected should he not be impeached and run again. People were asleep at the wheel thinking Clinton would win. Trump was not some magical revolution of the majority. That won't happen twice until history as time to forget.

... IMO the "issue" isn't the GOP, President Trump or any of the other things that "progressives" have blamed - it's that tens of millions of ordinary Americans are very, very happy with the GOP and the direction in which they are taking the U.S. They want to get rid of the ACA so that "spongers" get what they deserve. They want those "welfare queens" to get a sharp dose of reality, they want the rule of law based on the 10 commandments, they genuinely believe the world is 6,000 years old and that evolution and global warming are myths invented by liberal intellectuals.

The pendulum will not start to swing in the other direction and IMO it will continue on its current path because a very large number of people see this as being positively beneficial - I don't see that changing any time soon and may become moreso as large parts of the the United States becomes increasingly religious.
Yes, tens of millions buy the narrative they've been fed. But they are not the majority of the country.

It doesn't need to be the majority. It just needs to be enough. I think there's probably enough.

You know, I despise Trump, and have real "issues " with a lot of the right, but this routine of all Conseravative are either evil, or stupid, or both is really getting to me. That is just as dumb as the Trumpets blasting of all opposition to Trump as being evil.

All conservatives did a stupid thing. A VERY stupid thing.

Not "all" conservatives.

Just the ones who supported and continue to support Trump.

Judging from poll results that seems to be something over 80% of them.

But not "all".

Er...did that link claim that it's racist to think rap is garbage?

No. It claimed that the belief that rap is garbage and cannot convey any message other than societal degradation is racist. There's a large chasm between disliking the genre because you don't enjoy it and thinking it's a societal blight.
