And some people were saying that Jared was probably a good influence on DJT's decisions. It's like the WH is run by an idiot version of the Sopranos.

Yes. They are mobsters, and think like mobsters. Hint: Trump asked Comey to swear loyalty to him.

Trump and Jared believed Comey was family. They fired him when they finally realized he wasn't. What they failed to grasp (since they're idiots) is that he's not needed for the investigation. Normal companies and government agencies compartmentalize -- the mob centralizes. They're the mob.

I think it's very likely that everyone around Trump did their best to stop him from firing Comey: that is why Trump had to send his personal bodyguard to deliver the dismissal letter and not go through the formal channels.
Trump made the calculated move that firing Comey was less destructive than letting him carry on, just like with his tax returns, when he figured that releasing them would cause more damage than withholding them forever.
And he is right: it probably bought him weeks or months until it becomes clear how the investigation can proceed.

McCabe and others have said that Comey's firing doesn't pause or stop the FBI's investigation.

You might have meant the two congressional investigations, however. Seems likely that they are slowed by the constant need to react to Trump's latest half dozen crises.

This story had just broken when I was driving yesterday.

On CNN, the general consensus was that contemporaneous notes or memos by any FBI official, much less the Director, would carry a LOT of weight in any prosecution going forward - that many crime figures have been brought down on the basis of such notes or memos.

When CNN went to an ad, I switched to Fox News. In essence, there Comey was a loose cannon and it was a simple case of his word against Trump's. If Trump's request to suspend the Flynn investigation was such a big deal, why didn't Comey bring it to light when it happened?

Seems like "Where you sit depends on where you stand"!

Fox's position only works if you ignore that Trump picked someone for NSA with a million red flags who instantly fell into legal jeopardy. Is Trump that obsessed with loyalty or does Flynn have a copy of the pee tape?

Press Secretary Sean Spicer was unavailable for comment as he is still refusing to come down from the cypress tree he climbed up on Sunday.

However, a Fox News journalist has managed to get him down to the lower branches by singing John Denver songs and holding up pieces of pound cake on the end of a garden rake.

Yea, I'm thinking satire...

Nonsense, they still accept Reagan as a republican president. In fact he is the only one they will cop to. So not even 30 years.

My bad :o

I thought "Plan W" was the raise the deficit and leave to the Democrats to sort out - not the disavowing.

I misunderstood.

FTFY. The answer is Yes.

Locker room talk worked last time he confessed to a crime.

He asked the director of the FBI to stop investigating Flynn. He wasn't talking to Billy Bush about grabbing a pussy.

No, that dog won't hunt.

Yet I am betting you this will soon be downplayed by the GOP, then in 2 month only a few of the dedicated (like this forum) will ever remember and trump will still be in. Wanna bet ?

Sadly, I think this is the most likely scenario - maybe 40% that, 30% independent investigator that finds something more scandalous in his business dealings....other stuff....5% or less, impeachment.

Really, if this scares Congressional Republicans into appointing a Special Prosecutor, I will consider that a big step forward.

But your prediction based on the gnat-like memory of the American media and people is likely a safe one.

It's the easiest question to answer: Comey thought that revealing what the hell beast said would cause problems with the ongoing investigation. In fact, this is what was said about why he kept it from the agents running that investigation.

So, where you stand depends on whether you're taking in the full story rather than just the sound bites you think can be manipulated to your political advantage.

I am stunned and, truth be told, a bit disappointed that we didn't get a tweet or thirteen about the latest scandal. Someone took away his phone last night, I reckon.

Seriously, someone really must have dissuaded him from his usual early morning Twitter rant. And it worked. That's how serious this is.

It's hard to imagine that Flynn doesn't possess explosive evidence. Trump doesn't think twice about dumping people when it suits him. He's taken extraordinary steps to protect Flynn. I don't buy for a second that it's because Trump is loyal to those who are loyal to him.

There's one unlikely and bizarre scenario where Trump is innocent regarding Russia: The motivations for his actions are the same as when he went mental over the inaugural crowd size. Skin so thin that it barely contains his internal organs. He's not mommy's and daddy's special prince if he needed the Ruskies help to get elected.

My "party" ? Lol.

From 2000-2008 I voted Gore, Kerry, Obama and then in 2012 I voted Johnson, 2016 I voted Trump.

Trump has been a massive disappointment since taking office. The man is a clown and a buffoon, which I always knew, but I hoped he could at least direct his remarkable momentum in a way that could help destroy a wildly corrupt system in which both parties are absolutely awful.

I still hope Trump can do some of what he promised, right the ship, start listening to Bannon more, quit listening to his liberal daughter and her (((husband))) and at least help deepen divisions within America and the West at large (I think he's at least doing that, thankfully.)

I still think he's better than any of the other 16 or 17 or whatever it was, republican candidates there were. He's certainly preferable to Hillary having won.

He's worth having in there for Jeff Sessions alone. We'll get more than that out of him, but it's sad that it seems like it's going to be such meager pickings. The swamp has definitely drained him.

But that's the problem. D.C. is a cess pool, and both parties take turns boning the American people in favor of a globalist, greed-based, nation-destroying, identity-destroying worldview which must be ended at all costs.

Capitalism needs to be reigned in massively, greed needs to be curtailed and channeled to benefit the people, we should have universal single-payer healthcare, strong safety regulations, strong borders, a strong national identity tied to a clear racial identity, etc.

Trump and Clinton are both incredibly greedy people, but believe it or not I think Clinton had him beat on that. I think his greed, at this point, is at least somewhat sated. I had hoped it was moreso than it seems to be. I had hoped he wouldn't cuck so hard and so fast. I had hoped he would be more capable of restraint, clarity of vision, focus and devotion to his voters and the promises he made. I haven't written him off entirely, but do I sound to you like a blind party loyalist?

Nice to see you're an anti-semite in addition to beign an avowed racist. Let's not do things half-assedly, shall we?
