The Trump Presidency

Even if this was true, IMO it's a long, long way from this to any kind of censure against Trump, much less indictment or prosecution.

Trump fired Comey because Comey was bad at his job. The FBI have therefore set about an anti-Trump witch hunt. Any evidence arising from this witch hunt is tainted because of that association. Anything the FBI does can be safely disregarded - at least that's what the GOP will say.

Except Louise Mensch is right-wing. She used to run News Corp's Heat Street and was Conservative member of Parliament in the UK.

Worth noting that Conservative (by UK standards) does not equate to right-wing (by US standards).

Should they be translated over to the US, the Conservative party would be considered hopelessly liberal by the Republican faithful. Also worth noting that she was, for a short time, also a member of the Labour Party, who would be considered to be not far short of communist in the US.

Politically she's always struck me as a bit all over the place. She's made her mistakes, but she's generally not afraid to stand up and state her case. Her online stuff should come with a warning, she's been caught a few times pushing stuff without real corroboration, but she also has been early in the game on a few things, so it's very much swings and roundabouts.

Intoxicated by what is being said on Twitter, I believe, at this momment at least, that Trump and many others are going to be arrested. There are allegations of a whole lot of dodgy Russian money then there is the coluding with Russians to pervert the presidential elections.

This is going to be yuuuge.

I certainly hope so but I'll believe it when it actually happens.

Not even then.

Such a move would probably trigger some major terror attack on the FBI or other government buildings by all the sectarian nutjobs who came out of the woods to support Trump.

I thought I was stepping somewhat into the realms of fantasy but you have outdone me.

Trump may not be a fan of briefing books but he does devour the news. Most mornings, current and former aides say, Trump reads through a handful of newspapers in print, including the New York Times, New York Post, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal — all while watching cable news shows in the background.

He uses the Internet minimally, other than tweeting and tracking his mentions, so what other news stories he sees can be more haphazard. Trump does receive a daily binder of news clippings put together his communications team, but White House officials disagreed about how much he reads those. White House and former campaign aides have tried to make sure Trump’s media diet includes regular doses of praise and positive stories to keep his mood up – a tactic honed by staff during the campaign to keep him from tweeting angrily).

There is universal agreement among Trump advisers on this: The best way to focus the president’s attention on any story is to tell him about it personally, even if it is in one of the papers he’s already thumbed through. But officials say it’s a high-risk, high-reward proposition because Trump’s frustrations at bad stories can easily boomerang against those delivering him the news.

...

More recently, when four economists who advised Trump during the campaign — Steve Forbes, Larry Kudlow, Arthur Laffer and Stephen Moore — wrote in a New York Times op-ed that “now is the time to move it forward with urgency,” someone in the White House flagged the piece for the president.

Trump summoned staff to talk about it. His message: Make this the tax plan, according to one White House official present.

The op-ed came out on a Wednesday. By Friday, Trump was telling the Associated Press, “I shouldn’t tell you this, but we’re going to be announcing, probably on Wednesday, tax reform,” startling his own aides who had not yet prepared such a plan. Sure enough, the next Wednesday Trump’s economic team was rolling out a tax plan that echoed the op-ed.

It should be noted that the "tax plan" they unveiled was desperately short on details and the possibility of achieving more revenue by cutting taxes requires some extreme level of wishful thinking. This of course demonstrates how poorly thought out and rushed it was.

FSM save us all from this imbecile.

White House chief of staff Reince Priebus issued a stern warning at a recent senior staff meeting: Quit trying to secretly slip stuff to President Trump.

Just days earlier, K.T. McFarland, the deputy national security adviser, had given Trump a printout of two Time magazine covers. One, supposedly from the 1970s, warned of a coming ice age; the other, from 2008, about surviving global warming, according to four White House officials familiar with the matter.

Trump quickly got lathered up about the media’s hypocrisy. But there was a problem. The 1970s cover was fake, part of an Internet hoax that’s circulated for years. Staff chased down the truth and intervened before Trump tweeted or talked publicly about it.

The episode illustrates the impossible mission of managing a White House led by an impetuous president who has resisted structure and strictures his entire adult life.

Don't worry they're making sure he's getting his proper diet of white nationalism from the rage furby.

That is what happened in late February when someone mischievously gave the president a printed copy of an article from GotNews.com, the website of Internet provocateur Charles C. Johnson, which accused deputy chief of staff Katie Walsh of being “the source behind a bunch of leaks” in the White House.

Hmmm. More like...

Coach.

I have to disagree with that. Coach was a sweet and kind-hearted man who liked everyone and had an infectious joy for life that made everyone like him.
He once went to someone else's family reunion after being sent an invitation by accident, because he didn't want to disappoint anyone by not showing up. He was so sweet and charming that he was unofficially adopted into the family, attended the reunions for multiple years afterward, and they were planning to hold a reunion at his place in the future.

Morning Joe says FBI close to exposing the president: ‘It’s a criminal issue — and Trump knows that’
MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough believes President Donald Trump fired FBI director James Comey because he sensed the investigation was getting close to revealing whatever criminal actions he’s trying to hide.

The “Morning Joe” host compared the situation to the Showtime series “Billions,” which depicts a U.S. attorney pursuing a hedge fund billionaire named Bobby Axelrod, and he said the FBI had found strong evidence against Trump and his associates.

Separate(?) sources that in part corroborate the Mensch-Taylor story. Post here as I dont think this is purely comming down to the Russian treason thing but criminal financials. Reactions from Trump and friends will be interesting. Will he do what he said he might and communicate through only written press releases? Will he melt on Twitter?

That doesn't mean they are willing to die for Donald Trump.

Who knows?

If Trump gets arrested he may become a martyr to them. Breitbard & Co may try to get the USA into a new civil war. And guess who has the weapons?

Ok, that might be a little over the top.
But I would expect some major outcry if Trump gets arrested. And probably a few nutjobs might try something stupid.

Some may cry, "Fake news!" but this kind of action will require a lot of damning evidence, which will become public.

Watching PDJT give a speech to law enforcement officers. I feel a bit guilty that, because it's such a windy day and he's not wearing a cap, I'm more interested in how his hair is handling it (or not) than his words.

Of course I only meant his mental capacity, not his personality. I miss Coach...
