Trump should be held to his word for the campaign promise he made in front of a television audience of 66 million Americans:

“I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation, because there has never been so many lies, so much deception. I wonder, how does it feel to open up an issue of "Playboy," linger on the gorgeous babe looking you in the eyes, her lips slightly parted, starting to unbutton her blouse, and know you will never get within 50 miles of her?

I always thought Hillary was a mistake even though I like her. She just doesn't have the personal touch that comes across on the stage or tv. I supported Bernie in the primaries and would have preferred Joe Biden or Elizabeth Warren. Both are better candidates than Hillary

But I think Hillary explains only part of it. There has to be something about Trump that makes people knowingly eat his crap and go "yummy, I want some more". Sort of the way many women are attracted to the bad boy that THEY KNOW IS A LYING CHEATING BASTARD and ignore any good men they encounter.

No, It's been clear for decades that Trump is the guy who will sleep with your wife, brag about it and not care. And people knew all this **** and they voted for the bastard anyway.

But, that's not true. I'm a liberal and I care very much about the people in small towns like Cheyenne.

I'll give you an example of something I don't like though. I live in the Seattle area. King County. The most populous county by far in the State of Washington. Overall, only about 40 percent of our tax revenue is used for services in this county. Whereas we have rural counties in the State where three times as much money than tax revenue is spent on services there. Yet inevitably it's people from these rural counties are constantly complaining about the Socialist liberals in Seattle. Never mind that they have been suckling on our tit forever.

People in Iowa, Missouri, Alabama, Mississippi etc.the reddest states by far get more revenues than New York, California, Washington the blue states. I don't even mind that. But I've had it with the damn tail wagging the dog. Enough is enough.

Don't look at me. You're the one who wants an overarching national government with the authority and the mandate to redistribute wealth across state lines.

Working through it still, but pausing to comment: this is what i would call amature anthropology, not derisively. Looking at the people as people, not as boldly described demographics, looking at their human, emotional motivations and opinions and how those are driven and informed by local circumstance.

It appears to be consistent with my own half assed etic cultural analysis.

I don't mind at all that they get those revenues. In fact, I believe it is extremely important that rural areas and small towns are assisted so they thrive too.I believe we are all in this together.
Lots of city people don't see how important they are.

What I hate is the ignorance they promote. I mind that farmers feel that because they own a piece of property that they have Carte Blanche to do with it what they please. Like it's OK to pollute streams and groundwater. That it is OK to fill in marshlands. That they have the right to tell others what they can do with their bodies. I hate that they mock science and learning and elevate ignorance and mythology.

I'm open to correction here but wouldn't it be more accurate to say that there weren't any emails that were classified.... however some non classified emails (single figures out of the 35k I believe) contained classified information and had not been correctly marked up?

It may seem a minor differential but I would say a crucial one.

Read what Comey told us:

"For example, seven e-mail chains concern matters that were classified at the Top Secret/Special Access Program level when they were sent and received. These chains involved Secretary Clinton both sending e-mails about those matters and receiving e-mails from others about the same matters. There is evidence to support a conclusion that any reasonable person in Secretary Clinton’s position, or in the position of those government employees with whom she was corresponding about these matters, should have known that an unclassified system was no place for that conversation. In addition to this highly sensitive information, we also found information that was properly classified as Secret by the U.S. Intelligence Community at the time it was discussed on e-mail (that is, excluding the later “up-classified” e-mails).

None of these e-mails should have been on any kind of unclassified system, but their presence is especially concerning because all of these e-mails were housed on unclassified personal servers not even supported by full-time security staff, like those found at Departments and Agencies of the U.S. Government—or even with a commercial service like Gmail.

I don't dispute any of this, other than possibly the title, but the question is: why are they attracted to Trump? He's virtually the archetype of 'City' - he looks weird, he's rich, he's decadent, he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. The sad thing is -- and I don't mean this in a nasty way and I hope it doesn't come across that way -- but the average Trump voter is, or is supposed to be, someone whose lot in life is not going well and feels ignored by the political process. I guess voting for Trump -- in light of the above -- is just evidence of their poor decision-making skills. That based on their personal feelings they chose the candidate least likely to help their situation.

As an example, I still think of the woman at the Trump rally in New Hampshire, the one that was all aglow about The Don. Her husband had worked in a local industry for thirty years only it closed down, moved away and now, she said, he works 16 hours a day at two minimum wage jobs to make ends meet. The reality is, people have been warned for at least thirty years not to assume they have "lifetime jobs." That you need to keep upgrading your skills, looking for better opportunities. That if you allow yourself to become complacent then you are quite likely to suffer the way this man has. (Personally I'm doing okay but I'm on my third 'career.')

Clinton's solution was to make retraining available to men like this woman's husband at no cost or low cost. Maybe have government play a role in finding a job he could fill, once he got some new training, by developing job banks. Trump's solution was to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

She chose the wall.

It's hard to argue with the points he makes. Especially when it comes to forgiving Trumps huge flaws (you rooted for Walter White didn't you?). Trump is indeed a brick thrown through the city elite window. I still wouldn't vote for him, but it is a better explanation than the one I myself have used, "they're all idiots!"
