The Unofficial Election 2016 Results Thread PLEASE

Most pro-life people are very much aware of "medical necessity" abortions and consider them separately because in that case the child is already dead or has no chance at all of living. In that case the moral calculus is lose one life to save another vs losing two lives.

The majority of the anti-choice lobby couldn't care less about dead fetuses. They care about sexual control of females.

I think the best case scenario is that Donald is the figurehead and lets Pence make all the decisions. Pence would **** **** up too but maybe not as badly.

I agree with you about the Trump being a figurehead part. I actually think Pence with a Republican House and Senate would be a good thing, though I do understand it would be bad from your point of view.

It must be weird to realize that while Trump was taking the country, state by state, you were fantasizing about Texas guaranteeing the election for Hillary.

Oh good show. Cherry picking speculative posts hours ago.

Feel good?

Go ahead and celebrate the election of the worst president. Ever. By far.

Let me join with the rest of the world (apart from Russia) in laughing heartily about the election of a clown. A clown who will damage your once great country.

The world started to respect America again in the last 8 years. Goodbye to that sentiment.

Trump seems to have it in the bag at this point. Disgraceful.

What makes you think Southern evangelicals really represent the values they claim to? They're Ted Nugent wrapped in Biblical verses.

As I mentioned in another thread, when push comes to shove Evangelicals are really only interested in forcing other people to do things they don't want to do.

That's the worst part. You can't reassure some people by telling them they'll be okay. There are a lot of people in this country that the Orange Menace, himself, has promised won't be okay. Put yourself in the shoes of immigrants, minorities and Muslims and imagine what they are feeling right now.

Not only them. I'll lose my health insurance (and I'm a diabetic and in chronic pain) if the ACA is repealed.

Depends on whether he would have energized the Dem base. Turnout is what killed us. R voters fired up. D voters discouraged because we got the Machine candidate.

He would have energised the right wing of this country to an even higher pitch. Dump would have painted Sanders as a hardline communist with plans to take their wallets and their guns. Landslide.

Fox at 254
Everyone else at 244
Ap and nyt call penn for trump.
Dopes at fox Chicago had him at 274!

Yikes

This election hinged on at most 100,000 or so votes. Bernie picking up just those relative few in a handful of states would have completely changed the electoral college count and won.
You are making the (probably incorrect) assumption that Sanders actually would have picked up those 100,000 votes, without loosing just as many (if not more) votes from moderate republicans and/or right-leaning Democrats.

Not sure why you think that any Hillary supporter would automatically be a Bernie supporter. They did have different policies after all.

I agree. The Democrats should have nominated a mainstream Democrat without any baggage.

So they're chanting "lock her up" at the Trump hall. Dictators lock up their opponents. I will watch from Canada, and hope that when the GOP house, senate and president screw up the economy, they get the blame.

But I expect someone else will get the blame anyway. The immigrants, the Muslims, the Chinese, anything to shift blame from themselves.

(yes, I still exist. The Trust with Nicolas Cage and Elijia Wood was a good movie, play Thumper, it's a great game)

But she's no more crooked than any other politician, much less so than most.

Are we really this scared of a woman? That's the only difference. Literally.

Maybe we're tired of crooked politicians. Maybe we think it would be a nice change of pace, if we're going to have a crook, to have one that's not already wired into the corrupt political machine for a change.
