Presidential Debates

I'm going to give The Donald a break on one thing: When he said he never said China was behind the hoax of global warming, he wasn't lying, as such. He just says so much crap all the time, whatever comes to the top at the time, that he didn't remember.
But Donald has the world's best memory.

You mean that's the IQ range he's targeting? Sounds like a stupid move, those people likely won't be able to find the polling station. :)

Even if it's the age range he's targeting, it's still a stupid move. Voting age in the US is 18.

For anyone who cares, here's a fact-check done by NPR, line by line.

The takeaway from this is that any time Trump says "wrong" or "not true" or "I didn't say that", it's probably a bald-faced lie.

It's interesting how Trump completely dismisses his "yeah, I guess so" on the Howard Stern program. In Trump's mind that simply did not happen. He wasn't smart enough to admit saying that, then claiming the next day he reevaluated his position. Instead he just denies what he said.

I thought it looked like Trump was trying to establish the upper hand in the initial exchange of niceties with that sort of move, but was completely blindsided by Hillary's jabs at him. He was visibly caught off-guard and never really recovered from that.

Regardless of how most people experienced the debate, I wonder how Donald feels about it. If he feels wounded, and he certainly gave that impression, that could have consequences for his behaviour.

He went straight to the "spin room" after the debate to say he thought he did quite well.

That's probably the angle you guys are going to play up -- that it was two against one. Unfortunately, that's understating things because Trump's his own worst enemy.

"I make a great own worst enemy! The best!!"

Trump can't help himself. It's bizarre the way he lies about something so small and obvious. Paper thin skin.

Wow, that's some heavy denial.

If Trump were earning money primarily from real estate, zero taxes wouldn't be a problem. After the depreciation period ended on his successful properties or if they were sold, he or his heirs would owe a lot of taxes at once.

We are told though that this is not the case. Trump is making money now mainly by licensing his name. If he's no longer losing tons of money on failed real estate, he should owe plenty of tax.

I wish Clinton had pointed out, that's why we need the rich to pay more taxes, they aren't paying their share.

What does share even mean? That sounds like a conclusion without a basis in anything. if we established parameters for a person's share, and figured out Trump has done more for the government that exceeded this share, would you agree to have the government subsidize him?

What was your motivation?

I would estimate that if I assiduously did my taxes since I was 36 years, then I would have at least a couple thousand of dollars more than I do now.

At the times in question I reckoned that the amount in question was not worth the trouble to file for it whereas the state could always use a bit of extra spending money.

I do the same.

You've missed my point. He says so much crap he simply can't remember all of it.

But. But. But. But Trump has great memory. He has the best memory!

(But point taken. Maybe he shouldn't make so much crap up if he doesn't want to be called out on it. I'll still call it lying if he denies any of that crap).
