Mother Terisa gets there at last

Hitchens provided more context and reference than Pope Francis did for his claim, and you seem to have no problems accepting that. Come to that, you've been provided with more citations in this thread than you have provided.

Hitchens provided nothing at all, certainly not cites, certainly not even a footnote. His infantile pamphlet has about a much to do with scholarship as the protocal of the elders of Zion, and like that "work" is driven by bigotry.

Posters here have added cites, none of which add context.

Did someone really ask Teresa why she wasn't giving the untouchables in India jobs to drag them out of poverty?

Ridiculous.

Huh, curious that Chris did not provide a citation, or ya know, the question to which she was responding.

Skeptics refer to that as context. Particularly given Chris's known anti-Catholic bigotry and through and through alcoholism.

Going into the faith, is it your assertion that her words are not in parity with Catholicism?

"I think it is very beautiful for the poor to accept their lot, to share it with the passion of Christ. I think the world is being much helped by the suffering of the poor people."

Is this sentiment not one shared by many in that faith? Is it somehow a mangled lie? What part of it strikes you as suspect such that you require chapter and verse on its source?

your hero was a sadistic hypocrite.
Yep, she was worse than Hitler or Stalin. While those knowingly inflicted lots of suffering, the suffering was a means to an end.

For MT, suffering was the goal. She was a sadist, a torturer. She belongs in the same category as Erszébet Báthory, world's most prolific female serial killer, who bathed in the blood of her victims, and Ilse Koch, the Bitch of Buchenwald, whose maltreatment of the inmates was even too much for the Nazis. And even then, she tops the list in sheer number of victims.

Thanks, ddt, you've just given The Big Dog another reason to dismiss the whole thread.

Do not blame me feel for that sheer nonsense.

And I would never dismiss the whole thread: I posted numerous articles of value.

Plus a "skeptic" just claimed that Hitler had a means to an end in order to criticize Saint Teresa.

Wow.

That's it, cloud the issue with irrelevancies in the hope that other posters will see how weak your argument is. Chris smoked too didn't he, so why don't you throw that in also, and imply that it wasn't just tobacco he was into?

Are you equating fanatical anti Catholic bigotry with "smoking"?

Say, hitler didn't smoke and he "had a means that an end" so using fantatical anti-catholic "skepticism" that means chris is worse than hitler.

/I do not think chris was worse than hitler.

Hopefully Cyril will take a Stuka-sirened nose dive straight to hell where he belongs.

Love it.

You would think God would be regretting his decision to give the rock of his church such a say in what goes on up in heaven. One would think He would be reluctant to do anything without first checking it out with the fisherman. Perhaps that's why He doesn't appear to do anything.

You were equating anti-Catholic bigotry with alcoholism if you please.

No. Chris suffered from two debilitating mental issues: alcoholism, and bigotry.

Smoking is not a debilitating mental issue.

Debilitating mental issues are they? Well I share them I suppose as I like a Scotch and regard the Catholic church as a contemptible organization.

Chris and I are in good company however, (in the Scotch drinking department), as Winston Churchill liked a drop also which didn't seem to debilitate him too much. Had a lot to do with saving the World from the Nazis as I understand it.

Which according to certain skeptics Churchill would have been better off leaving hitler alone and tacking down a diminutive Albanian nun.

Chris did not "like" scotch. He loved it. He probably though that Catholics were contemptible, but he "hated" them. See the first modern genocide: the Irish starvation of the mid nineteenth century.

Not atypical for upper class Brits.

The ascension to "Sainthood" of Teresa by the Church only adds more evidence to the fact that the Church is focused on gaining power and money, even with a Pope that talks with a very compassionate tone. This act will only get people that already believe the myth of Mother Teresa to like her even more, and the rest won't really care.

Now here's an idea. What about the church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster canonizing Christopher Hitchens?

Anyone here got connections to that holy institution.

That of course makes no sense.
