People want to believe in this sort of nonsense. They set up perfect people, whether it's Mother Theresa, Robert E. Lee, Ghandi or Martin Luther King Jr., and then fight through the cognitive dissonance when they turn out not to be perfect.
I prefer to admire concepts rather than needing to embody them in someone. Helping the poor will stand up to scrutiny better than Mother Theresa, being gentlemanly will last better than Robert E. Lee's legacy, etc, and it saves the wear and tear of figuring out what to do when conflicting evidence emerges.

The celebrations are for a heap of nonsense built on faith, miracles and deities, named Saints. The celebrations are for credulity being embraced and sense estranged. The celebrations are for people who act as if there is a God who cares about them. They act in the world under this delusion and that hurts a lot of people.

So one man was "cured" of his cancer thanks to her intervention apparently. What about the thousands of other people suffering from serious cancers around the world, their families desperately praying to their god for their loved one to be spared? When their loved one died, did that mean they were less religious or less devout? Were their loved ones more evil and depraved than this man? One person lucks out and survives a bad accident, natural disaster or deadly illness. That is a miracle. Hundreds and thousands die in the same incidents, that is god moving in a mysterious way. How sick and twisted do you have to be as a human being to believe any of this? Saints and sainthood almost literally make me feel physically sick
