Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part IV

So I wonder what Kelly is hiding?

I think she's one of the many people thinking they're breathing life into their dead political careers by helping Donald but haven't realized it's actually zombified. Mike Pence is in the same boat. If the whole campaign wasn't so putrid, the smell would stand out more.

IT'S OFFICIAL

Trump has now officially offended every demographic in America.
Muslims....................check
Hispanics..................check
African Americans...check
Women.....................check
Disabled....................check
Veterans...................check
Etc.............................check

About the only group that Trump hasn't pissed off are racist whites. Until now. He's now getting threats from his own supporters. I really want to read Trump's book on how to throw an election in 5 easy lessons. It will be a classic.

Hillary is trolling him now. Scheduled to appear on Donald's can't miss morning show tomorrow, Morning Joe.

I think you're definitely right. I expect Trump to be livid and have totally lost it by the end of the day tomorrow.

I've asked this before and I'm going to ask it again. Please stop using "retard" or "tard" as a slur. I have worked with people that have "down" syndrome. Some are the sweetest people you could possibly meet. I find that term extra offensive. I virtually don't care what other term you might use but if you can, please wean yourself from this expression.

Thanks.

Tell it to Ann. We're mocking HER use of the offensive term as a defense of Trumps offensive gestural mocking of a reporter.

Perhaps he has a contact link. Complain to her.

Damn, things move fast. I called the direct attack on the alt-right, but barely beat Hillary to it by ten/twelve hours. But I didn't see it coming from Hillary, directly, and not this soon.
.....

I note that she delivered the speech in calm, conversational tones, along the lines of "Let me lay out the facts. You decide what you think." Much more persuasive than her typical shouting until she's hoarse. She's just not good at delivering stemwinders.

The mixed messages I'm seeing about Trump's immigration and racial shifts are interesting. Some are saying he'll get more Black and Hispanic votes, but the racists will know he's lying and vote for him anyhow. Others, the opposite: the racists will be turned off and not vote but minorities will know he's lying. Of course, he's lying either way. It's what he does.

I agree with you entirely. In fact, If I was Hillary's advisor, I'd have her do sit down speeches with groups of 20 to maybe 50 people tops and just talk about the job of President and how she wants to improve their lives as much as possible. But NOT talk down to people. Be as Presidential as she can in the softest way she can.

Projecting to a big room makes her seem shrill.

If I was Hillary I'd try to emulate the tone of FDR's fireside chats. He never did those while he was campaigning. But they were very effective. Jimmy Carter tried to copy them but on TV the way he did them in this day and age they seemed too staged.

I'd say town hall approach but she's not Bill in his easy going style which I thought he was a master of. I can't wait to see her on Morning Joe tomorrow. I think she's getting a feel for the best approach.

I don't think so. People can be conned but the Clinton campaign is not going to let Trump just run away from who he has been for the last year. Not a chance. Hillary's speech today was just a warmup. Morning Joe tomorrow will be more of Hillary laying into Trump.

Bringing on the Breitbart CEO and now seemingly changing his stance on Immigration is not going to be good, About the only thing as bad as going down a bad road is trying to walk down the center line of a busy highway. You're bound to get hit from both directions.

And Trump is getting killed on all the late night shows. From Kimmel to Fallon to Colbert to Corden and Seth Meyers. He's being ridiculed everywhere except Fox News. The last politician I saw this eviscerated constantly was Sarah Palin.

I think Trebuchet's observation, though, is accurate. The LA Times had articles within two hours of each other on Thursday.... A) Trump softening tough talk on immigration, says we have to look at individual cases, people who've been productie, etc... The Conway Play Book. Then two hours later, B) Trump says he's still going to be tough on violators, they still have to leave the country, and maybe we'll reconsider them but if you break the law your break the law.

He is walking a tightrope that he cannot walk. Coulter already started turning on him when he followed the Conway script. Yeah, maybe he picks up a vote from the twelve Hispanics that believe him, but he's got millions of Breitbart and Coulter readers on the Alt-Right who are trashing him. They have their in-party WWNN (Wink Wink Nudge Nudge) codes for the country club bigots. They all know he's just pandering. But they haven't got those dog whistles and code widely distributed to the NCRW (Noisy Crazy Right Wing), and those people don't like code and dog whistle. They want to hear "Throw 'Em Out, Build That Wall, Arrest the Rapist-Murderer-Drug Dealers, Make America White Great Again, Lock Her Up". They're the ones who support him "Cuz he tells it like it is" and now the campaign is asking them to figure out all this vacillation on their money shot.

I forgot who on the forum who said this but I agree with the assessment that Trump is doing this not to influence minority voters, but to appear more reasoned to country club Republicans. He has been getting killed because he's come off as anything but Presidential not necessarily for his racist talk.

Temperament is the real issue. Now Hillary will hit him with being Mr. JELL-O. In fact, that's my new nickname for Trump. He wiggles and he waggles. He has all the convictions of a bowl of fruit Jell-O. If he can't con you one way he'll Conway you another.

It looks like Trump may lose Minnesota through literally no fault of his own.

Republican Party of Minnesota forgot to put Donald Trump on Minnesota ballot, scrambling to fix it

The reality is basically a bit more complicated than that. They didn't forget Trump, they forgot their alternate electrical college voters, which has resulted in incomplete paperwork and thus their candidate being left off the ballot.

This could be an embarrassing "Oops, nearly screwed that up!" moment or it could be a ticking time bomb that will lead to legal challenges reminiscent of the "handing chad" days.
Goes to show that just like Trump says its all rigged! This is targeting the incompetents!

The guy's just floundering. He's inflated his reality but this time too far. Instead of a bankruptcy that he can excuse as a masterful business decision, he's out there in public. He has told everyone he's the best, can't lose, can fix everything once elected. But it's all baloney.

This will not end well.

And if trump disavowes them, their message, and their support he pisses off the majority of the rabble that passes for his core support.

Heard one of his surrogates on the news this morning insist that trump was not flip flopping he was just using "different words" to describe his immigration policy. As if words have no specific meaning. It's hilarious watching trump roll out the Obama immigration policy.

The thing is he doesn't really have an immigration policy other than build a wall. Other than that he has been very vague about what he would actually do that's different.

Last night I made the mistake of watching the latest Matt Frei Trump documentary. Say what you like about The Donald but he has created jobs for Matt Frei, his camera crew and production team.

I really do not want Donald Trump to be U.S. President but I'm frightened (as has been pointed out repeatedly - too frightened) that Trump will be elected in much the same way that the Brexit vote happened - against the predictions and by creating a heady brew of nationalism, protest voting, simple solutions to complex problems.

I know that they had to do this to "make" the documentary but there were people across the political spectrum who were confident/frightened that Trump would romp to victory despite the state of the polls.

Oh, and Kellyanne Conway's ignorance and/or capacity for self-delusion is incredible.

I think one thing both "sides" agree on is that that was a show for low-information voters, or those who are reluctant to be seen supporting an open bigot. The serious nationalists have viewed him as winking and blowing kisses towards them the entire time. It's *far* too late to get any serious number of minorities to even look at him.

And of course, Trump just goes for whatever gets the most cheers when he's in a crowd.

Reminder from a defense attorney (who happens to be anti-Trump):
Just a friendly reminder that a dismissed misdemeanor charge -- even against a notorious sociopath -- is an accusation, not an adjudication.
Sure but this is domestic violence and the victim usually has a reason to not press charges. You want to break up your family? You want the breadwinner to lose his job and you lose the lifestyle and financial security you are accustomed to? In this case, the Post article also states:

Bannon then got his lawyer on the case, who allegedly “threatened” Piccard and told her she “would have no money [and] no way to support the children” if the case went to trial.

Which is unfortunately the situation a lot of domestic abuse victims find themselves in when they are financially dependent on an abusive spouse.
