I don't think there are enough facts to support that. Based on their tax returns the Clinton's appear to be very wealthy and able to generate very large sums of money with very little effort, i.e. speaking and appearance fees.

In fact, I would wager that the Clintons had a higher income last year than Trump. I don't know that to be true, but I'd be willing to make that bet. Of course we will have to wait for Trump's Tax return to know, but do you think it is possible?

And what if Clinton is better at business than Trump? Would that change your mind? Or is there something else you like about Trump?

You are okay with a couple of professional politicians generating wealth by speaking? What could they possibly say that is so worthy of paying for? Perhaps it is their "connections"?

Regarding the Clintons as possibly being good at business - I would respond that the Mafia are very good business people, but I would not like them running the USA. If one is in the business of death and destruction (eg Syria, Libya, Iraq, Yemen etc) then Hillary is your woman - you are with her.

The Trump organization is very entrepreneurial. A few ventures failed, which is minor compared to the successes. Trump lives like a successful businessman. Has his own jet (and not a small one either). His children are in his business, and doing well. A lot of people have had work, and get paid. A few took their chances and got burned. Capitalism is like that.

If you wish to nit-pick you can find fault with anyone (even Mother Teresa ).

But all you have as proof of Trump's success is his word. Every inquiry into his wealth shows that
- he is worth much less than he says
- he hardly gives to charity at all
- all his properties are massively leveraged

If you are worried about a few $100,000 in speaking fees from Goldman Sachs, you should be really concerned about a man who owes them a few $100,000,000 for his precious Trump Tower.

Gosh, I reckon a former First Lady, state senator and Secretary of State probably has quite a lot to say that's interesting, whether it's interesting anecdotes about their past experience, their considered assessment of the current state of the world or their view on what the future holds.

I'd much rather listen to that than some ex sports star talking for the umpteenth time about their most famous achievement(s) or some empty-eyed and shiny toothed "motivational speaker"

You trotting out these tired old canards again:

  • Iraq - If Hillary is a warmonger then so is all the GOP (including Teh Donald) and half of the Democratic Party. IMO her "crime" was allowing herself to be hoodwinked by a bunch of confidence tricksters who wanted war - but then most of the U.S. politicians and population are guilty of the same
  • Libya - the U.S. was famously reluctant to get involved here
  • Syria - again, I thought the criticism was that too little was being done, unlike Trump who proposes to faltten the place
  • Yemen - what's your beef here - what it the US's involvement ?

No it isn't, it now merely licences the Trump brand. Its attempts to be entrepreneurial have failed time and again and each time Trump manages to stitch up his partners and small contractors. The people of New Jersey have very trenchant views of Trump thanks to the way he managed to screw over an entire state.

The Trump Organisation has had more than 20 cases on one single project where he failed to pay suppliers and the court ruled against them. This is not a normal way of doing business.

If you wish to nit-pick you can find fault with anyone (even Mother Teresa ).

Now I'm sure this is a Poe. Mother Theresa's name is a byword for cruelty and needless suffering.

I'm okay with our president not wearing a dog collar with the leash held by Putin. I'm really okay with a president who isn't bat **** crazy, and understands why we can't use nukes against ISIS. This is why I'm voting for Clinton. For all her faults, she is a survivable event, Trump may not be.

It's not his debt to Goldman-Sachs that worries me (will they even lend him anything?), it's his debt to unknown foreign creditors.

GS + Bank of China + Deutsche Bank (+ 1 more I forgot) do currently hold $1billion in Trump's debt, secured by the Trump Tower property.

Who cares??

So you don't want the mafia running the country, but DO want the guy with mob connections running the country.

Have you no sense of irony?

I have far more appreciation for the de-programming that is needed for family members influenced by cults. The brainwashed masses in the USA have no idea they are brainwashed.

I wonder what will happen after Trump wins.

Oh. I see Hillary appeared on a TV show and answered the questions about her health. Guess you guys can now use this to argue that there is nothing wrong with Hillary.

Oooh, now it's "brainwashed masses" and "cults"? Can "Wake up, sheeple!" be far behind.

You really do your pretense of having a sane discussion no good with ridiculous hyperbolic assertions.

Hillary has a problem. The question is exactly what it is, how bad it is, how it could affect her judgment, and what the side effects of any medication are?

What are the reasons for non-disclosure? And why are the mainstream media avoiding the issue?

Are you still beating your wife?

Trump doctor letter:

"If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual elected to the presidency."

BS detector on high alert. How the hell can he know that?

Pure Speculation

I have a friend in Hong Kong who is into coffee-klatching with Democrats Abroad. Scuttlebutt there is that there's an immediate battle looming in Trump's newly-appointed dream team.

The scenario makes sense, particularly in view of the cancelled speeches which were to address Trump's "possibly ameliorated" positions on immigration.

Again - this is a scenario - a hypothetical. It's speculation from some old political hacks who live and breathe partisan politics.

It goes like this:

The odd-man out is a woman. Apparently the kinder gentler Donald is Kellyann Conway's idea. It is at serious odds with the rest of the team in ascendency: Bannon, Sessions, Coulter. Sessions was caught hemming and hawing on the issue when Trump, in a moment of magnificence after meeting with Latino conservatives, said he might not be so tough on them.

Trump's comments led to all the speculation that his new Immigration posture was going to be yet another of his non-existent PtP (pivot to presidential) moves. Kellyann is pimping this to anyone who will listen.

Ya know who's not happy with it? Bannon, Coulter and Sessions. They're happy with Trump's wishy-washy statement, but Coulter said the next day that we should not be mistaken - we will have our wall. Conway thought she had Donald all lined up to make several speeches on his new policy. If anyone else took one for the team (I did) and listened to his Austin speech tonight, there is no sign of any such pivot. He is right back to his canned speeches of six weeks ago and even trots out the mothers of victims of crimes by illegal immigrants and the handy dandy union of border patrol agents. He's doubling down and apparently Sessions, who was brought along to the rally to emphasize the point, has won this particular fracas. Lots of "build that wall, build that wall, build that wall".

The entire speech - about forty-five minutes - could've been written by Breitbart. A whole lot of the "be afraid, be very afraid" tactic that cost him so much in the polls in July. They're going to double-down, going up river to find that legendary lost tribe of angry white voters that the paleos believe exists. He repeated his appeal to the African-American community, same cooked statistics and "what the Hell, might as well give me a chance". But they did a "crowd flourish". They had a half-dozen African Americans right behind the podium so that they were extremely visible.

I'll have to check back with my buddies. Does Kellyann find herself tossed out? Or does she just toe the line and stay on the Breitbart message, ignoring all her hinting that we were going to see a New Improved Trump?

Easy. When Kim Yong Il died, Trump became the worlds healthiest living human.

I like Kellyann. She is sharp and quick.

She turns negative questions into a Trump positive, and a Hillary negative before the media person has a chance to stop her.

I think she is Trump's chance to win, but Hillary may self-destruct and then it is moot.

Example of a statement from a brain-washed TV watcher. I rest my case. Except I will have trouble finding an non-partisan jury! ;)

You are okay with a couple of professional politicians generating wealth by speaking?

Yes. I'm also comfortable with W selling his crap paintings fro more than they could possibly be worth if drawn by anyone else, if he were to do so.

What could they possibly say that is so worthy of paying for?

More than one of the minor Kardashian characters, at the least. Do you not know how fame obsessed we are as a society? See Trump.

Perhaps it is their "connections"?

Maybe. Maybe it is just people trying to signal that they are well connected to other wealthy well connected people. "Sorry, can't make it on Tuesday, the firm is hosting Hillary for some event and I have to be there." That has value in some circles.

Regarding the Clintons as possibly being good at business - I would respond that the Mafia are very good business people, but I would not like them running the USA. If one is in the business of death and destruction (eg Syria, Libya, Iraq, Yemen etc) then Hillary is your woman - you are with her.

I think you have your comparison reversed. Trump actually did work with the mafia often fails to deliver value to projects he is involved with and often leaves his investors. Which is why no-one who has worked with Donald has come out to support him.

If you wish to nit-pick you can find fault with anyone (even Mother Teresa ).

I fertile topic for another thread. But look at the big picture instead of the nit-picking: who has the support of the community they work with?
