I miss the days when a poorly thought out scream into a microphone could torpedo a campaign.

Isn't it amazing? Howard Dean makes a weird Yee haw and that kills his campaign and Trump actually verbalizes hateful and stupid things non-stop and he's still going?

It just proves what worthless trash the GOP is.

Have you found any clear evidence the diagnosis was "fake"?

Sure, it's pretty plausible, but do you have something more than, "sure seems likely it was fake"?

Thanks. My apologies if I missed something in your links.

One issue is that he was a very active athlete, playing football, tennis and squash without any evidence of medical issues. Another is that it was not uncommon in that era for draft-age males with the right connections -- and a billionaire's son would certainly qualify -- to find antiwar doctors who would attest to some minor but disqualifying condition. Sometimes the Army insisted on doing its own exam; sometimes not. I note that, until it was abolished in 1973, dealing with the draft was one of the most momentous events of a young man's life: It was literally a matter of life and death. But Trump claims he doesn't remember which foot was affected (later claiming both), or what doctor diagnosed him. I would have remembered and celebrated the name of any doc who kept me out of Nam.

Trump's deferments don't upset me, even though I myself was drafted. I had student deferments for more than four years, the draft board even giving me extra time to finish my degree. Of course, they kept sending me letters saying "We haven't forgotten, don't bother looking for a job when you're finished." If I'd had a way to avoid going, I would have. Trump was fortunate enough to have either bad feet or a rich father who could pay off a doctor and maybe the draft board. (Draft boards in that era were notoriously corrupt, that's why the lottery came about.)

What does bother me is that he now considers himself an expert and wants to send more kids off to war. Like nearly the whole R primary field, a chicken-hawk.

What I always thought was funny is that Trump attended a military academy because he was kicked out of a an expensive private school for disciplinary reasons. Said he learned more about the military than most soldiers.

They are still talking about Trump's dispicible, idiotic feud with the Khans on the news. I wonder how long this will go on.

Are you kidding? At least another week. Now, if I'm the Democratic party, I get Congressional Democrats to make a big stink that Trump hasn't apologized to the Khans.

Yeah, actually, they conveniently healed themselves when the war was over. Not to mention bone spurs are a specious excuse in the first place. Do you think a millionaire with a painful bone spur wouldn't have had it surgically corrected? It's a simple procedure.
