Hillary Clinton is Done: part 3

Oh, you can imagine what he'll say. We can practically write the script for him. But I don't think he'll gloat about his idea to ban Muslims again. That was terrible, politically, when Orlando happened. Well, just terrible in every way.

He just keeps doing what worked in the primaries and the general electorate isn't the Republican primary electorate. The Muslim ban caused his numbers to sky rocket with the primary voters but his approval rating with independents and Democrats had a corresponding plummet. He ignores and denies bad news so he's going to continue to make the same mistakes over and over again. He won't listen to constructive criticism because he refuses to believe he isn't perfect.

If he said the sky is blue, I'd have to go out and check, myself.

Every time Trump says his name, I check his citation.

Welcome to page 7 everyone.

Is Hillary Clinton done?

Seems like no.

When did Clinton set up her private server, and where was it located?
A report issued by the State Department’s independent inspector general in May said Clinton used “a personal email system to conduct business” while she was a U.S. senator and during her 2008 presidential campaign. (She was a senator from New York from January 2001 to January 2009, when President Obama nominated her to be secretary of state.) “She continued to use personal email throughout her term as Secretary, relying on an account maintained on a private server, predominantly through mobile devices. Throughout Secretary Clinton’s tenure, the server was located in her New York residence,” the IG report said.
FBI Director James Comey said there were “several different servers and administrators of those servers during her four years at the State Department.” The FBI director added, “As new servers and equipment were employed, older servers were taken out of service, stored, and decommissioned in various ways.”

AP-GfK Poll: Email investigation has hurt Clinton's image

Hillary Clinton enters the summer damaged by perceptions that she violated the law by using a private email system while serving as secretary of state, a new Associated Press-GfK poll finds.

The poll found that 56 percent of Americans said they think the Democratic presidential candidate broke the law, including 39 percent who think she did so intentionally.

A large and growing number of voters view the former first lady and New York senator as dishonest, the poll indicates.

According to this new poll, a large and growing number of voters view Hillary as "dishonest" -- translation: bare-faced liar.

"Hillary will say anything to get elected, and change nothing." -- Barack Obama (2008)

You say this like Trump isn't on equal or worse footing. This race isn't about honest people. A good chunk of the GOP, Trump's own party, believe him to be dishonest. I'd hazard that the bias in the middle and on the left view him as even worse.

The FBI Exonerated Clinton, But The Public Hasn't

Clinton's legal troubles might not be over. As CNN's Jake Tapper notes, Clinton could find herself in trouble for lying to Congress when she testified last October that "there was nothing marked classified on my emails."

When asked at a House hearing about that statement, Comey said simply: "That's not true."

We have argued in this space that the issue isn't whether Clinton broke the law (which she clearly did), but what her use of a private email server said about her fitness to serve in the White House. Our view is and has been that her unbelievably reckless handling of national security secrets, and her constant lying about it, disqualified her from the presidency.

The latest poll findings show that this view might finally -- and thankfully -- be catching on with the public at large.

U.S. Code 18, Section 1001 -- Statements or entries generally:

"Whoever in any matter within the jurisdiction of the executive, legislative, or judicial branch of the Government of the United States, knowingly and willfully makes any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both."

U.S. Code 18, Section 1621 -- Perjury generally:

"Whoever having taken an oath before a competent tribunal, officer, or person, in any case in which a law of the United States authorizes an oath to be administered, that he will testify, declare, depose, or certify truly, or that any written testimony, declaration, deposition, or certificate by him subscribed, is true, willfully and contrary to such oath states or subscribes any material matter which he does not believe to be true is guilty of perjury and shall, except as otherwise expressly provided by law, be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both."

Where are these big numbers converting to Trump votes? I have to say I'm surprised. I'm generally a doom-and-gloom kinda cynic and I figured the round-the-clock coverage of the non-findings by the FBI and the vaunted Gowdy committee would take their toll. The polls show that a whole lot of people think she's guilty of something, a whole lot don't trust her, yet Trump only got a marginal bump in the key swing state polls, a bump that has all been rolled back in the polls of the last few days.

Apparently the Get Her, She's a Witch opinion is helping Trump in the national polls, but all those people must be in Oklahoma, Montana and Idaho. They sure ain't in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia and Florida. Polls there have rebounded in favor of Clinton... and this is during a week where Trump was supposed to have everything on his side: pre-convention hype, interest in the veep selection, residual effects of the Washington investigation spinning, Dallas cop shooting....

It appears we may have well-passed "Peak Trump". His colorful rhetoric long ago convinced the demographic he was shooting for. It's not selling to anyone else. When the best that can be said about a national or international event is "well, at least Trump didn't say something stupid or self-destructive", you're not really looking at a growth brand.

Every word of it is true. And those are my "own thoughts", in my own words -- sentiments now shared by the majority of voters.

The majority of voters thinks earth has seasons because it gets closer to the sun. That doesn't make them right. And neither is this.

You know what, I don't like her much, but I'd like you, or anyone, to stop just saying that she's dishonest and corrupt and show that she is, in any way, more dishonest and corrupt than the average politician.

That's a good point. In the article Slings and Arrows linked, and in other places, a number of Democrats have pointed that out. Trump's polling numbers seemed to have peaked. That when he gains versus Hillary it's because her polling numbers rise and fall. In national polling Trump's numbers are relatively constant around 40%.

Well, according to 538's model, Trump now has a 1/3 chance of winning. Personally, if I believed Trump would be as horrible as the typical liberal claims, I would find that a little unnerving. Perhaps worthy of wetting my bed at night. Of course, a 1/3 chance of winning means that there is approximately a 2/3 probability that Trump will be the favorite on same day between now and the election. At that point, the Democratic pants soiling will begin. Perhaps I should invest in a pants retailer. There's a 2/3 chance of a huge spike in business in the next four months.

It is unnerving. But the rest of your post suggests you have some issues with such a lousy GOP candidate yourself.

The Kimberly-Clark Corporation, who manufactures 'Depends Adult Diapers', has reportedly ramped up production in anticipation of the upcoming election. Hillary and her gal pals are excepted to set record demands for the product -- considerably higher than their heretofore normal daily usage.

Incontinence is a problem many adults of both sexes suffer from, especially common in older people. Any reason you singled out females?

Excellent point. I would say that Hillary is no more dishonest and corrupt than Rep. Corrine Brown, or former Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr., or Rep. Alcee Hastings, or former Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Or Ronald Reagan or Jimmy Carter or Ted Kennedy or Tip O'Neil or Eisenhower or FDR

According to a new tracking poll by the Los Angeles Times:

"Trump led among men, 47% to 36%, while Clinton had a smaller, 41%-34% edge among women."
