Likely vice president running mates 2016

Reagan and Bush hated each other. Their primary was very contentious. Bush is credited with coining the phrase "Voodoo Economics" to dexribe Reagan's Trickle Down plan.

True that. And then when Bush signed on as VP candidate, he became a company man all the way. I wouldn't expect anything different. A VP is not an independent operator (or shouldn't be). He's chosen to help the presidential candidate get elected. Once in office, his purpose is whatever the president wants it to be. Or, for that matter, he can go live in the woods until a) needed to break a tie in the Senate or b) take over if the Prez becomes dead or incapacitated.

Unless you're Dick Cheney and then things are kind of reversed.

Yeah, but I figure that's what Bush wanted. It took a lot of decidin' responsibility off of himself. After all, when Bush hired Cheney to head his VP search committee, and Cheney chose himself, and Bush accepted that, that should have been a big signal that Bush was going to let Cheney pull the levers of power.

Selina: Sue, any calls from POTUS?

Sue: No.

He can also be sent to frown at dead foreign leaders.

Does anyone here get email surveys from various PACs? Ever since I changed parties in January, I've been receiving email surveys several times a week.

In addition to vetting Elizabeth Warren, I think that Nancy Pelosi might also be vetted as a potential VP candidate for Clinton.

Here are the titles of some of the surveys I received by email.

Today
Take a minute to tell us what you think of Nancy Pelosi's progressive leadership (same survey as June 27)

Today
Do you think more Democrats would vote if Elizabeth Warren was running as Vice President?

June 27

June 28
Do you think Elizabeth Warren is ready to be President?

It appears likely to be Gingrich. I don't see how that would help the ticket, though. I don't see how anybody could help that ticket.

Of all people. Gingrich has significant ethical chalIenges. What is that? 7 wives between Trump and Gingrich?

Recent leaks from the campaign have Donald leaning toward retired Lt. General Michael Flynn for reasons that scream Trumpian logic.

After weeks of focusing on a group of current and former elected officials in his search for a running mate, Donald Trump is increasingly intrigued by the idea of tapping retired Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn to project strength and know-how on national security, according to four people familiar with the vetting process.

...

The turn toward a military figure is being driven by Trump himself rather than by his advisers, the people said, and comes as the real estate mogul is telling his friends that national unrest may demand a “tough and steady” presence alongside him on the ticket.

...

Trump is said to be understanding and open to that argument, but he is slightly bored by the prospect of going with a traditional Republican. As a longtime celebrity, he has countered that advice with points about the need for surprise and star power. But he is torn about whether his gut instincts should outweigh political calculation, the people said.

It seems his short list is Newt, Christie, Pence and Flynn at least three of those are registered Republicans.

FYI Flynn is the guy who said on Al Jazeera that he thinks it was "a deliberate act" by Obama/Clinton to ignore the warnings of his agency's 2012 report that a continuation of the support of "moderate" cut-throats in Syria would likely lead to a semi-independent rogue Islamist statelet - today known as "ISIS".

It's not like Assad was our friend or Syria was a democratic nation. One of the things I've come to see about the Middle East is it almost doesn't matter what you do the result is not going to be good. It might be stable...for a while. But inevitably we're trading short term stability for an undemocratic ruthless dictator. The Shah, the Saudi Royal family, Hosni Mubarak. Everybody wanted to see Qaddafi gone from Libya...now look what we have. Support Democracy in Egypt and they elect the Muslim Brotherhood who immediately begin to implement undemocratic and oppressive laws. Jimmy Carter meant well pulling support from the Shah and then Khomeini takes power. Reagan sponsors the Afghans to kick out the Soviets and the Taliban take power.

I swear we've been screwing the pooch in the Middle East for a hundred years.

If you're really interested in sorting out your obvious confusion, listen to what this Senator has to say.

If Teh Donald (gets nominated and) picks Flynn it would cure me of slightly prevalent suspicions that he's just in to develop his brand and give Killary a difficult to find opponent that's even more despised than her.

He's looking to put himself more literally in the position he attributes to himself in your signature.

Prediction:

Hillary/Warren

Trump/General Flynn

Odds of winninn should be around picking the trifecta?

I'm going with

Hillary/Perez

Trump/Gingrich

Warren is too old and important to the Democrats in the Senate. Putting Flynn on the ticket would cause the Republican party to implode as there would be more Democrats on the Republican ticket than Republicans. If the RNC allows Donald to go with Flynn and doesn't dump him for over it, they're going to hemorrhage votes to the ticket that actually has Republicans on it in the Libertarians with Johnson/Weld.
