Obama prepares order on guns

I've never sold a gun, probably never will. If I did it certainly wouldn't be to a crack dealer or serial killer, unless they had a valid FOID card.

Not referring to you personally, It was just as an example. If those SKS rifles were to vanish today is there any record that you should have them? Is there anything preventing you from unloading them to whoever you like?

Not the guns-what they're resting on. And the molding. And the window trim. It's oak as far as the eye can see ...
I like oak. And besides I had a bunch of rejects left over from when I put in a new floor so I made the bar out of them. I'm cheap. :p

The FFL I bought them from knows who they sold it to, and the importer knows which FFL they sold them to. So yes there is a paper trail to me. If I sold one privately I'm required by state law to keep a record of it for 10 years, if my C&R is still active then I also have to enter the transaction in my bound book.

Of course, it would be trivial to grind off the serial numbers to make them untraceable, which is what criminals do if they're worried about a gun being traced to them.

Poll: Americans supportive but skeptical on Obama's gun action

A new CNN/ORC poll finds 67% say they favor the changes Obama announced, and 32% oppose them. Support for the executive actions, designed to expand background checks to cover more gun purchases made online or at gun shows and to make it easier for the FBI to complete background checks efficiently, comes across party lines, with majorities of Democrats (85%), independents (65%) and Republicans (51%) in favor of them. Majorities back the measures across most demographic groups, in fact, including 57% of gun owners and 56% of rural residents.

Those who strongly favor the changes outnumber those who are strongly opposed by about a 2-to-1 margin: 43% say they are strongly in favor, 21% strongly opposed.

[...]

Almost 6 in 10 say these measures will not be effective in reducing the number of gun-related deaths in the United States. That sentiment is particularly strong among gun owners, 75% of whom say they doubt the changes will reduce gun deaths.

Has anyone seen the text of these EO's yet? I don't see them here; https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions Seeing as how the people gathering data for the poll probably provided a bare bones, sugar coated, watered down version of what is in the EO/EA's, who knows what these people actually support or oppose.

The only thing I've read that is real are the actions on 41P which changed NFA firearms transfers/making.

My only comment on this matter is while I dont agree with Obamas use of the executive action, its well within reason to have all gun transactions require a background check. Unless people see it fair that they have to go through one while others do not. There are some challenges in actually applying it, but this is one of the few areas where i have agreed with Obamas reasoning

It is this these kinds of laws that can deprive some law abiding adults of their rights to own certain types of firearms. In WA all gun transfers (with a few exceptions) must be facilitated by a licensed dealer. Adults 18 to 21 years old in WA are allowed to possess handguns, but federal law prohibits the transfer of a handgun by an FFL to anyone under 21.

This is not fair.

You do realize this doesn't do anything at all towards that end, don't you?

All he did was reiterate existing law.

And did anyone else catch his statement yesterday that he wanted to make buying a gun more expensive?

Only if purchasing from an FFL, depending on the state.

Obama's EA didn't change that at all.

Then why is everybody claiming that he's being some sort of anti-constitutional dictator then if his EA doesn't change the way it already is?

Obama wants to crack down on Internet and gunshow sellers who do not have an ffl.

If they have an ffl then the background checks would be required. Do you have an issue with firearms dealers being required to have a licence?

Less gunshot wounds
We've been down this road before, and the last time your reply was found lacking. Do you really expect to do better this time?
More guns = more bullet holes, less guns =less bullet holes, isn't that how it goes?
Your theory hinges upon an unproven assumption, however:
Correlation = causation.
And we're still waiting on your evidence to prove that assumption.
