Presidential Primaries 2016

Inspired by the North Korea Secret police apparently.

ETA: You'd think common sense is that if such a law ever passed that the person would realize how easily that thing can be reversed onto the other party. But after the gun godwin, and this I see absolutely no hope for this guy being electable. 'Scuse me while I pour acid on my prior musings about voting for him.

Was he even trying to get elected?

I thought the whole thing was just an elaborate promotional tour for his book and a job interview for commentator somewhere in the crazy-town media empire.

*Sigh*
This is depressing... I know where he's coming from. Problem is, it's another case of suggesting some kind of government intrusion is necessary to "help" the situation in spite of the idea that the constitutional rights of people are practically sacred. This two-faced arguing is made more trippy by his soft spoken demeanor.
I don't think the facts in your second link have anything to do with Carson's nutty ideas. I don't think anybody would be surprised that educators would favor Dems over Reps in general because Dems are more supportive of education and, especially, higher education in general. In this race, the preference would be all the more stark because of fruitloops like Carson.

But I do agree - it's depressing. No national leader should be taking such an absurd position.

To be sure, i dont like the political lack of diversity in schools and college... but even under that its impossible to justify what Carson is proposing there. As you say, people have reasons for voting the way they do though whether we agree on them or not. Its disturbing that this kind of idea would be floated wjether the guy is serious about his candidacy or not... that proposal goes way beyond political discourse

And meanwhile, back in Republican fantasy land.... Carson is pulling ahead of Trump in the latest polls. Not just individual state polls but in the national consensus.

Let's remember, though, that in 2012 every GOP candidate was allowed to lead the polls at one time.

By the way, is it just my suspicious nature or does anyone else wonder why there are no national Dem polls covering the periods after Biden withdrew and more recently, after the ass-whupping Hillary gave the Congressional Committee?

A...

It's you. :p

In this society of instant answers at our fingertips, we tend to think instant polls should be posted as soon as the news comes out or the hearing finished.

Clinton did soar in Iowa in the latest poll.

Patience, new polls will likely be out soon. :)

I'm curious to see the bump(s). My guess is that more than half of Biden's support shifts to Hillary, ultimately. Whether that shows in the first polls, I'm not sure, though. Add that to the point, two or three that she gets from the debate performance and the witch hunt hearings, and I think we could have some very upset HDS sufferers.

Trump has peaked, you can only bluff and brag for so long before people start seeing through the facade. Carson will be a flash in the pan like the front runner musical chairs from 2012 as soon as the media starts highlighting the crazy.

Rubio looks bad with the latest attack on his collecting a Senator's salary while completely abandoning the job. The other Senators are still maintaining a presence in the Senate.

Sander's will probably keep his following but I don't see it growing beyond 30-40%.

The big question is who will rise to the top in the GOP after the fun ends?

British bookies (odds to win nomination)

Rubio 2:1
JEB 3:1
Trump ~4:1
Carson 8:1

Both are true. Kasich's only hope is that Jeb! continues to look so inept that Kasich doesn't so much win as everyone else loses.
Whoops! Kasich was on the Leman Brothers' board and a managing general partner (whatever that is). My bad, he has an Achilles' heel.

Bush and Walker have shown us that it simply doesn't matter how much money you have behind you, if the candidate can't find something other than "I've always wanted to be President" (Walker) and "Daddy, you promised!" (Jeb!) then you can't sell them to the voters. GWB at least followed his handlers' instructions. Jeb! has been a disaster as a candidate.

Mark Halperin posted his grades for the debate:

http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-10-29/cruz-and-rubio-shine-at-battle-of-boulder

Bush came in dead last at D+, Rubio and Cruz had the best grade, A-.

I can see why he rated Rubio well. I don't think Cruz was a match for him. Although Cruz was on the money with what he said about the moderators he chose to do it when they actually asked him a question with substance and failed to answer the question.

... and then complained that he didn't have enough time. Hilarious!

At least now the whole idea of letting the networks run the debates is being blasted by just about everybody.Bad idea. Not because of a net work's political bias, but because only thing they care about is ratings.
The "GIve it back to the League Of Women Voters: choruses are increasing.
