Compatibility between Science and Genesis

The relationship between Genesis and Science is like the relationship between the Stork theory of how babies are made and the REALITY of how they are made.... there is that coincidental fact that storks make babies too.

Storks? Heretic! Everyone knows babies grow in cabbages.

I'm trying to picture the compatibility of a story made up with semi-barbarian goat-herders sitting around a fire made from camel dung with modern physics. I do admit to having a bit of trouble there. Perhaps if I run this half-inch drill bit through my frontal lobes it will be easier. The experiment commences. BRB.

Well, ...

Except for the last few minutes of his life, that drilling technique worked quite well for Darryl Revok.

;)

I don't believe modern scientific theory can be reconciled with Genesis in any way, unless you're willing to call virtually every word in Genesis metaphorical.

You will dull a lot of drill bits that way...

Yes, Genesis being a made up story and science being facts about how the world works I'd don't see a reconciliation as possible.

Yeah, there's nothing remotely credible in Genesis. I think a case can be made for other legendary events recorded here or there, but without a line about "And on the 8th Day, God spake, saying, 'Let there be cosmic background radiation!'" I just don't see anything to explain.
