A lease will often specify that the rent and/or service charges are payable on "the usual quarter days". The usual quarter days are: 25 March - Lady Day, 24 June - Midsummer Day, 29 September - Michaelmas, 25 December - Christmas.

I see you edited your post for source. We are talking about residential lets, not business leases. The most typical arrangement is a form of month to month tenancy. I expect most of the students in Perugia paid their rent just as the occupants of via pergola did - at the beginning of the month.

Did you really think that students pay their rent on quarter days?

It 's a logical fallacy to assume Rudy was the perp who stole the money.

Not really, since Rudy broke into the cottage and murdered Meredith. But hey, you can believe his fairy tales. That he had a date with Mez. That he engaged in heavy petting with her and then while sitting on the toilet someone Mez let in killed her and ran away.

Guede's DNA was detected on Meredith's purse by the scientific police. There was no police report of any other non-Meredith DNA on the purse. Guede's DNA was detected in Meredith's vagina by the scientific police. Guede's palm print in Meredith's blood was detected in the murder room. Shoeprints consistent with his distinctive shoes were found in Meredith's blood in the cottage, including the murder room. His partial shoeprint was found in a putative semen stain on a pillow in the murder room. Guede admitted being in the cottage at the time of Meredith's murder.

What logical fallacy do you attribute to the assumption that Guede was the person who stole Meredith's cash? Can you explain your reasoning?

A blonde hair was found across the top of the bag. Rudy's DNA was not found inside the bag. Mez' rent money was taken from her drawer.

Wrong. I was about to add the url but pressed submit in error. I then pressed edit and added it.

I do not need to look it up.

Citations for all the above statements, please, and please point them out from official police or court trial documents, not news articles.

I hear what you are saying. However, in a crime scenario, perps will wear gloves and will try to avoid leaving any trace. It is unfair criticism to knock a forensic doctor who does find a trace, inadvertently left behind on the grounds there are not bucketloads of it. Forensic means minute, after all.

No, it doesn't.

How do you know where Mrredith's rent money was? You dont. It could have been in either place. That said, Rudy was the only one convicted of her murder. He is the one who had no money, no job, no visible means of support. He was the one caught in the nursery with stolen items.

But hey, blame it on the wealthy Raffaele and Amanda who had thousands in her bank account and a job....hmmmmm

I was making the point that the only fixed rent dates I know of is Quarter Day leasehold rents. All other rents are between the landlord and the tenant.

So, answer the question: how would Rudy know?

One month in advance could be the Wednesday before the last Friday in a Month. It can be the last day in every month. It can be the mid-point, eg, the 15th.

You cannot claim "Rudy knew the rent was due 1st of the month and Mez had it in cash."

You're right he cant for sure. We'll give you that. But anyone with half a brain knows that rents are usually paid at the beginning of every month. It's a good guess.

Still, it doesn't really matter. The evidence is there that Rudy killed Meredith. That's why he is spending his days behind bars.

I saw Amanda lying about drugs in her 3rd November statement. I find that amazing. There had been a brutal murder in her apartment and she and the others seriously thought the police are going to give a **** about some pot? Or that it might not be relevant to them to know about it? That lie did her no good at all.

Filomena, an attorney with a Perugia law firm, told Amanda to lie to police and deny drug use in the house. Why would Filomena do that when the police are investigating her housemate's murder? Perhaps Filomena might know more about how the police operate than you or I.

The guys downstairs could have spoken publicly about the many blood marks in their flat, but so far they appear to have not spoken up to clarify it and call public attention to something important which the police apparently want to supress. Perhaps they fear prosecution for drugs, knowing that the police can possibly target any one of them with real or fabricated/distorted evidence.

Um...let's see...

1) Because monthly rent payments usually in cash are the typical arrangement
2) Because he knew the guys downstairs and guys talk
3) Because he was hanging out with students a lot of the time

If you're still in doubt, give these people a call: "Perugia student living"

"The minimum rental period is of 30 days and precisely from the first to the last day of any month."
And that is positively my last word on the subject.

Vixen, did Mignini allege in court that the police found a blond hair across the top of the bag, or did he miss it? Is this something claimed by Harry or Jackie or Peggy without proof?

Peter Gill:
I think it would be crucial to carry out this kind of test because it might reveal an unknown DNA profile that has come from an individual who has no innocent reason to be in the flat. I find it remarkable that this wasn't done actually, because if the defense make a request for some work to be done which may exonerate a suspect, naturally you would expect this work to be carried out.

No, that is not the bit.

Peter Gill was asked the question on Delitti & Misteri:

"Q. The knife and bra clasp have been much discussed, but there is this other element which has been completely ignored by prosecutors and by the Court, and that is that there are presumptive traces of semen shown up by the crimescope on the cushion on which Meredith’s body lay. Do you think that examination of this would be crucial under normal circumstances to reveal the identity of the real murderer or murderers?"

"A. If semen stains have been discovered in the vicinity of the victim’s body, then I am extremely surprised that no efforts have been taken to analyse the material. It doesn’t mean to say that it is associated with the crime event, – it might have been deposited some time previous to the crime, for example – but nevertheless if there is potentially important evidence like that which has been discovered, then it is difficult to understand why it has not been analysed, as it may take us further forward in understanding how this crime was committed."

Was this the bit?

Quarter days? What century are you living in Vixen? It's obviously been a very long time since you've rented (if you've ever rented). Quarter days are not A Thing in UK residential lettings, whatever your desultory google searches are telling you.

I did not say, "cut". You inserted that. You are reaching if you are postulating that pierced ears can suddenly spurt blood days later.

1) You said ear lobes did not bleed - untrue they bleed very well. To pierce ears you need to cut them, using cut in a strict sense that any thing that pierces the skin makes a cut in it.

2) No one argues that there was a spurt of blood only blood drops.

3) Look up secondary haemorrhage, delayed bleeding associated with infection of a wound. (Pierced ears are a wound.)

IIRC The specks of blood found on Raf's car door handle and back seat cover were also deemed non-human. Perhaps the cat nipped out for a little TDA.

Untrue no specks of blood were found. Please cite evidence from court documents / forensic science reports.

Er, to explain why nothing was stolen.

Especially since money and phones were stolen. So he got that wrong! If he were involved with staging he would know that something was stolen. Indeed if they were staging they would have taken something to make it look like a theft. (Especially since they could then claim on insurance).
