First of all it was considerably less that he claimed - read the transcript not True Crime Books. Milan is a big big city but he just found a place with a compromised lock - sure that's mensa logic.

Ah yes he threw away the knife and waited a month to steal one from a nursery.

CT's testimony is highly questionable.

A surprisingly large number of ppl carry a knife, including Raf. Of itself it does not particularly prove anything.

ISTM if Amanda had properly expressed her grave concerns about Mez' safety, as set out in her email home to 25 recipients, the postale police could have immediately closed off the entire house and sealed it off, until such time the flying squad arrived.

Things were touched and items moved.

Why is this being put on to Amanda? Why would a 20-year-old foreigner, who barely spoke the language, be able to accomplish this, even if it was a reasonable thing to expect?

You are incredible. Keep the focus on Amanda, no matter what.

Things were touched and items moved. Some at the permission of the postals, before the discovery.

Noticed no linky and it turns out to come from ole Nina Burleigh in an opinion piece in CNN without quotes. I don't trust her work without corroboration. I've done a quit look and it seems all the references emanated from Nina. I watched the video Del Prato made and she didn't mention this theory.

I do actually believe it may be accurate or close as the place allegedly had been broken into before and thousands in cash stolen which, if a key were used, would cause me to change the locks immediately.

* * *

In Fatal Gift of Beauty Burleigh devotes a very large number of pages to Rudy, the wretched orphan who was lazy and lied compulsively, and how he had an MO of breaking and entering, shoe-horning her deconstruction of the murder to lead the reader to conclude it's logical Rudy did it all by himself, and not only that it was a logical progression from sleeping rough in a nursery.

Burleigh has an agenda, so you have to take anything she says with a healthy pinch of salt.

No doubt but isn't it remarkable that the kids are alleged to have pick an MO so close to the lawyers' office that the laptop Rudi had came from? Why didn't they just leave the balcony door unlocked or forced the front door. Rudi's bad luck I guess.

What drugs were they high on that didn't show up on the tests of their hair?

Did Rudi come back with them and get the glass in his shoe?

What burglary did she brag about? You don't mean the one on April Fools' Day when they actually took something and didn't break a window or door?

I have no idea. IMV the crime was clearly one committed by a sociopath or sociopaths, and the lower courts concluded there was more than one perp.

I think it bears a close similarity to the Scream murderers, 16 yr olds Brian Draper and Adamcik, in that the perps were likely immature, fantasists, sociopaths, brimming with rage about being rejected by their peers. Draper idolised the Columbine High School murdererers.

Raf was a fantasist, knife fetishist, who heavily used drugs. Amanda boiled with resentment about Mez pointedly avoiding her on Halloween. Both showed signs of immaturity and irresponsible behaviour.

Mix in fellow reckless druggie for the evening, Rudy, and you can see poor Mez didn't stand a chance.

That's my assessment.

You are aware that the proposition of Guede as the sole killer was never tested in court, aren't you? Not at Guede's trial (because the prosecution wanted multiple killers) and not at any of Amanda and Raff's trials, either.

Your assessment is based on made-up "facts".

Apparently, the person calling for directions was from HQ, by which time the police had found their own way.

You do realise don't you that Amanda called Romanelli at 12:08 and 12:34? The alarm was raised.

The front door didn't lock properly anyway.

If the shutters to Filomena's room appeared shut to anyone looking up from the outside, how would the burglar know it wasn't actually locked?

He'd have to be pretty dumb to scale a flat 12 foot wall - with perhaps a nail sticking out - with a 4KG rock - the weight of two standard packs of sugar - in his pocket, only to discover - DOH_! - the @$&#ing shutters really are locked.

You claimed earlier that the kids were on hard drugs yet no such result was reported by the police. Do you recant or just ignore.

Could you describe Raf's fetish with knives?

What evidence do have that Amanda was in any way upset about Halloween?

Why would she want to hang out with the drunken british girls?

Since you believe they got together to kill Mez please give us a time-line that fits with the prosecution's case.

Btw the Italian justice system acquitted them so you must accept their innocence and recognize that the highest court in the land didn't agree with the lowly Massei court.

It's only my theory.

He spent the night there. His story was that he paid for the location where he could sleep. It seems reasonable that he was directed to the location since he didn't break in but rather either had a key or the trick to enter. He feared for his safety in that others could also be given the location or his tipster could show up later to do him harm. He clearly didn't steal the knife for its value.

If Rudi took the large knife from the kitchen for his protection in the nursery school, why did he put it inside his knapsack rather than keep it out to grab instantly if he heard someone in the corridor or if someone suddenly walked in on him without Rudi hearing them approach?

He did not grab it and have it at the ready when the school director came down the hallway to her office, for she described him as calm when she walked in on him.

No you are wrong. It locked just fine but didn't latch properly.

If the shutters to Filomena's room appeared shut to anyone looking up from the outside, how would the burglar know it wasn't actually locked?

They didn't shut all way because of swollen wood. Filomena most likely didn't shut them as she was in a hurry to get to the party even having Raf wrap her gift.

He'd have to be pretty dumb to scale a flat 12 foot wall - with perhaps a nail sticking out - with a 4KG rock - the weight of two standard packs of sugar - in his pocket, only to discover - DOH_! - the @$&#ing shutters really are locked.

Did you really not see how easy the "climb" was look here

Why would he have the rock in pocket? Most likely the shutters were left open and he threw the 9 lbs rock through the window and climbed up and in.

The shutters couldn't lock.

I am looking at it from the psychological POV. Amanda rang Mez several times during the evening. With Patrick taking on Mez to mix Mojitos and demoting Amanda to handing out flyers, it likely triggered painful childhood memories in Amanda.

Not being invited by your peers can be extremely hurtful even to a mature adult.
(cf "Poor Lonesome Me").

You note in her email home, Amanda cites Mez having fake blood on her chin from the night before, which both she and Raf saw that afternoon.

Switching both their phones off together and transporting a knife from Raf's does indicate a mission IMV.

And it was a particularly mean crime.

They are innocent, but they did everything to put themselves under suspicion.

It's not like he couldn't grab it quickly - he had a kitchen knife from the nursery what do you think it was for? I'm guesssing he had it at the ready while sleeping and heard the woman's voice and the child and didn't feel the need to whip the knife out.
