Save your Dixie cups, the South shall rise again!

It is possible to fly two flags on one pole. Imagine the Stars and Bars above the US flag. And in Italy, right alongside the Italian and NATO flags.

In the sail navy that was a foot-on-neck move. A captured warship would have the victor's flag above the original.

And I haven't seen that set-up you mentioned in an official setting. Could be from lack of experience, of course.

I'm not saying it happened. I'm just imagining if it did. I wouldn't be surprised if it could happen in a backwater armory somewhere in Georgia or Louisiana; someone putting up a Confederate flag above an American flag. Highly disrespectful, not to mention treasonous. Although, I doubt it would be as likely to occur in 2015, as it would have been in 1950.

I would imagine it wouldn't happen in an American base in a foreign country like Italy though.

It wouldn't happen on a military base either. (And I've been speaking of military bases only.) The military isn't segregated so you'd hear about it if it happened, I do believe.

IIRC some state flags have the Stars and Bars integral.

And certainly, it would never happen on an official capacity, either.

The Stars and Bars on state flags I also find disrespectful. But that's just my opinion on the matter.

It's possible (even common), but it's WRONG to do so, unless you're trying to show military occupation.

George W. Bush would have been an awesome Confederacy President.

Having been born in Conneticut, to a family from there for at least three generations, wouldn't Shrub not have been ineligible for CSA presidency, if such a nation existed? Ok his dad was born in Massachusets, but still I know that part of the country was always Union (I've relatives there).

As far as I can remember from my, Irish, education, Conneticut isn't in the part of Murrika that rebelled.

He was a faux Texan, which I guess makes him kosher if they were desperate.

Mild? Have you ever been to Columbus, GA in the middle of July? :p

I was never there in July. But I did spend August there twice. Never again!

Also, lots of poison ivy there.

Lastly, mild climates are often detrimental to military training.

Well, he did first say that "would be confederates are dwindling," (I know how much such traitors love to fly their confederate flags.)Then the next sentence, he described how there are more American flags flying in Nashville and military bases. So I assumed that Confederate flags were dwindling, along with the Confederate movement. And that includes military bases.
How you got that from my post is a complete mystery to me.

If you go back and read it again--which I did (several times)--what I actually said was:

1. Those who wish to see a resurgance of the confederate states are dwindling, and hardly now exist

2. Anecdotally in support I mentioned how when I lived in Nashville they flew lots of American Flags, more than in other states where I've lived

3. And I finished off my syntax concluded that in Nashville neighborhoods private citizens fly more flags than you see on the military bases where I've lived (which has been four) and in case you don't have direct experience, there are a lot of military bases.

The overall point to be drawn from this is that the South does not want to secede and the somewhat jingo-ist phrase "The South Will Rise Again" is not often heard. When it is, it's usually some old fart talking about the south's economic resurgence, which is seen as a final culmination to reconstruction. Most young people have no idea what he's talking about.

And the lack of interest in a "resurgent South" is an endless of amusement for me. My cousins are so frustrated. :D

"If they'd just WAKE UP we could get something going!"

"Cuz, you can't even get a lawn mowing business going."
It's been more than 20 years since I've heard anyone talk like that, and the person was so old at the time that realistically he's probably dead now.

And the South is undoubtedly better for that pernicious idea to have faded.

The beauty of home schooling is revisionist history as well as revisionist science.

I tell the relatives that if the South managed to "break free" they would instantly gain a unique status in the world, as the first "fourth world nation". :D

Large, sweaty ham actors pretending to be contesting over an item of trivial apparel that the relatives deny is a complete fraud and just soap operas for guys.

As opposed to other series or movies in which people pretend to contest or fight for a trivial item that doesn't exist in reality ?
