Should Illegal Immigrants get Welfare

I'll ask again: These illegal immigrants are apparently earning an income and paying taxes (or they wouldn't be eligible for a tax credit). So apparently companies are hiring illegal immigrants (because they're cheaper) and then footing society with the bill of cleaning up the mess. Yet somehow only the immigrants are responsible?

If you factor in the EITC, they aren't paying taxes. They are receiving a net gain from the system in the scenario we are discussing.

Food stamps, cash welfare and free health care are also tax free.

Are you sure of this? For citizens the EITC does not typically remove more than a fraction of income taxes; are there differences for illegal immigrants vs. citizens or legal immigrants that change this to a net of zero on average for the former? Remember, you only get an EITC if you file an income tax form.

Might I also point out that even the relatively few people who do not pay income taxes for what ever reason pay sales, gasoline, cigarette, property taxes etc. Including illegal immigrants.

That makes a little more sense, thanks.
I wonder how they're going to factor in the fact that they weren't legally/officially working before getting a social security number when deciding if a retroactive tax credit is in order. And if it's indeed possible to defraud the IRS by claiming you have 10 kids in a different country (wouldn't you also need SSN's for your dependents when filing your tax return?).

Still, if they're (temporarily) legalized by deferred action, why shouldn't they get the same benefits and obligations as the other working poor?

And the president executes those laws

He is refusing to execute the immigration laws

Understand? Nope liberals never do

No one is being deported? At all?

President Obama is refusing to deport illegal immigrants? I find that difficult to believe.

But then, conservatives will believe anything, if it makes the President of the United States, and 'liberals' look bad.

Understand? Conservatives never do.

The penalties for hiring illegals should be huge. That would stop the problem.

Have you been following the news

Please if you have an argument make it, don't try to ramble like Tony

It's funny. When oil companies get tax breaks, the right falls over itself to deny they're being subsidised. When the poor get tax breaks it's "welfare".

Exon pays 35% in federal and state taxes

The oil companies pay just about the highest of any industry

When you say tax break you are talking 1 out of 10,000 rules of tax law. Overall they pay quite a lot.

Do you pay more than 35%? A family of 4 earning the median income pays only 0.72%.

How does this equate with Exonn. We have the highest corporate tax rate in the world.

Liberal always lose

Under Obama's administration illegal immigrants will receive the earned income tax credit.

A mother making 15K a year with 2 kids gets about 5K from the government.

I say this is unfair to taxpayers.

How so? The immigrant, legal or illegal, is contributing to the country. He/she is working (which is the only way to get a tax credit) and apparantly not in jail. Where is there an unfairness that is different from whatever unfairness you think accompanies a legal resident getting the tax credit?

Add that to the 4 Trillion in spending Obama wants I guess

You don't have to add it. It's already figured in.

Also, the federal budget has pretty much been pegged at 20% of the GDP since 1980 and is projected to remain that way at least through 2020. It certainly hasn't moved very far in the last 3 years. There was a jump in federal spending to restart the economy in 2009, but now we're back on the same damn line we've been on since the '60's.

Government spending is increasing in real and adjusted dollars, but (except for the extraordinary circumstances of 2008-2010) it's keeping pace with the growth of the nation's economy.

How much more would it cost to deport all of these people? Got answers? No, I didn't think so.

A lot less in the long run than to keep paying them every year. Anybody who wants to keep giving and giving and giving, or like Hilary who wanted to give immigrants driver's licenses is plum, bat **** crazier than a loon. Either that or they are a liberal.

Awesome. Surely Congress will be appropriating enough money to deport them all any time now.

giving some Central American child breakfast at school is SOCIALISM!

Giving billions in tax breaks to oil companies is Capitalism.

see the difference? :D

They will appropriate more money to speed up the deportation process right after they form 8 investigative committees to determine why the deportation is going so slowly.

They needed 8 because the first 7 didn't blame the person they wanted.
