Donald Trump sues 'malicious' Palm Beach airport for $100 million

http://money.cnn.com/2015/01/13/luxury/trump-palm-beach-lawsuit/index.html

Donald Trump has sued Palm Beach County in Florida for $100 million and accused the county-run airport of deliberately sending air traffic over his historic mansion and private club.

Looks like his mansion is about 3 miles west of the airport runway which runs east-west; it has another runway that runs NW-SE. Depending on how aircraft need to enter or depart the controlled airspace, they probably are purposely sent over the mansion for reasons other than annoying Trump.

The lawsuit claims the mansion is "by far and away the most important historical structure in Palm Beach and one of the most important in Florida and, indeed, the United States."
Really? Proud of that shack ain't he? :)

A gun club I used tried the "we were here first" when sued for noise; didn't work.

He should find some field mouse or something disturbed by it.

Wind direction is what decides which direction planes take off and land. ALWAYS into the wind, not down wind or across if it can be avoided. It's a safety thing. It's a county airport, so I suspect they are talking small planes, them G.A. pilots need all the help they can get.

And the tower has records of wind direction, looks to me that Trump might have stepped on his toupee again. But if it is true, his suit ought to be joined by many pilots.

It's a medium size airport (6th busiest in Fla) with lots of commercial airliners coming and going. I like to fly into there as an alternative to the much busier Fort Lauderdale. Like most airports big and small, it's owned by the local government, so don't be fooled by the county-owned bit.

In any case, Trump's claim of malicious revenge on the part of the airport director seem to be a projection of his own inclination for peevish pettiness. I hope he gets stuck for the county's legal bills when the suit is ultimately dismissed.

The American Institute of Architects did rank it as most important in Palm Beach and fifth place for all of Florida. Also it is a US National Historic Landmark. It's the Mar-A-Lago estate completed in 1927 for Marjorie Merriweather Post (founder of General Foods, Inc.).

Even if/when that happens I doubt it'll be a drop in the bucket for Donald Trump.

On an unrelated note, for a moment I thought the thread title read "Tramp Sues Airport" at first.

Actually, Trump is not a very successful businessman. If you read up on his career, it's mostly failures and lawsuits. He makes his money by being a television businessman, in the same way that Joyce Brothers was a television psychologist.

The Donald. Pretty much the most despicable person in the USA. I'd say the world but Rupert Murdoch still breathes.

Be that as it may, but if he can afford a mansion on the historic register in Florida I'm pretty sure that he can afford fines for wasting the court's time.

...snip...

"His toupee"? I'd always thought it was the over way around - he is the puppet of the toupee.

I checked, and one of the instrument approaches used for the Palm Beach County Airport does take one in from the west in order to get to the airport. Therefore, it is quite likely that some of the planes landing at that airport do fly over (or at least fly near) the Trump mansion.

However, it is quite unlikely that the FAA would design instrument approach procedures just to tick off Donald Trump and/or make life noisy for those living a particular place.

As such, Trump, as usual, is full of himself instead of having facts on his side.

Are you sure - I think if there was a few possible approaches I'd pick the one that annoyed him! :)
