It was in late October last year, during attempts to download data off Pistorius’s personal handset, that police investigators discovered the device had been synchronised with a computer identified as Titanium Hulk.

Carl uses this exact same comic book character’s name in his email address and often refers to himself as 'the Hulk' on social media.

The police declined to prosecute Carl on the condition that the defence did not dispute the phone messages.

As it turned out, the judge ignored the whatsapp messages.

Per Francois Moller's testimony, on February 15, 2013 he received 4 cell phones – Reeva's and Oscar's iPhones and two Blackberry phones. Oscar's other iPhone was turned in by the defense on February 26, 2013, after his bail hearing. That's the one they flew to Apple in California in an attempt to unlock.

What could have been on that phone that was important enough to remove it from a crime scene?

I get the point. Sorry, I should have written out the rest of my thought, which was why would someone keep rhino horns in a business safe. They can't sell them (legally) and I assume that also means they can't insure them either. It just didn't make sense to me.

I did a little research and found out that the government and private concerns actually do store rhino horns. Plus, the SA government is considering selling rhino horns in an effort to curb poaching. So it does make sense after all that Arnold P's company (Twin City) keeps the horns harvested on their game preserve.

South Africa has moved another step closer towards scrapping the 30-year-old world ban on rhino horn trading that has largely failed to stem a bloody wave of illegal poaching across the continent.

It looks like a dollar each way. If it shows both the prosecution and the defence have structural flaws in their case, we are no further ahead are we?
I still favour the Father Brown approach.

At 12:57 he had a conversation with his friend Justin Divaris at 12:58 and had a conversation with four minutes with a model whose name is known to us.

Sony states show Oscar this model since January 1, 2013 at least once a week called.

We checked the number and more than a dozen text messages and phone calls since January 1, 2013 between Oscar and "Babyshoes" seen. The first SMS "Babyshoes" was on New Year's Day at 03:38

Today is the day, apparently, when sentencing begins. However, it doesn't appear to be a straightforward event, with the possibility of Pistorius being able to make a statement to the court in response to the verdict, and for witnesses to be called. All a bit odd.

The most disturbing thing, in my view, is reports that he may not receive a custodial sentence because of overcrowded prisons. Let's hope this is not a factor.

Which is remarkably close to the canonical example of chutzpah, i.e. the person who pleads the court for mercy for killing his parents on the grounds that he's an orphan.
