Oscar Pistorius shoots girlfriend

You know, I could perfectly believe that a man who had completely lost it and fired a gun four times at his girlfriend through a closed bathroom door, would be sincerely begging her to live five minutes later when the enormity of what he'd done hit him.

I'm not yet convinced Pistorius should be convicted beyond reasonable doubt of knowingly shooting Reeva, but I'm getting more and more inclined to believe he did.

Yep, it seems completely in line with everything I have ever read about abusive relationships. It doesn't contradict the prosecution theory in any way.

So far the defense's witnesses have all said they heard a man's voice crying loudly and not a woman's. It was the prosecution's witnesses that claimed to hear a woman's voice.

That may change as Roux calls other defense witnesses. He stated he would present evidence that OP sounded like a woman that night.
Rather than gender one might want to consider if this was a terrorized person screaming for help or just screaming, or a person screaming for medical help.

Grief and terror may indeed sound differently regardless of gender.

And, before or after the shots also matters a lot more than gender assessment of the voice.

It's very logical and consistent with the situation.

I have said before I find his story preposterous. You awake and hear someone in your bathroom. Without knowing who they are or why they're there you get a gun and fire shots into the bathroom.

Without checking to make sure your girlfriend is...at least still in bed. Without calling police on a cell phone, without...

I just can't believe his story is truthful. I can't even begin to believe it.

At first, I didn't believe it. Then I listened to the story, and thought everyone deserves a fair hearing, and people do do the most ridiculously murderously stupid things sometimes that seem absolutely ludicrous in the cold light of day.

But the more I hear of it, the more the disbelief creeps back. Whether I could truthfully say he's guilty beyond reasonable doubt is a different matter though.

It's not that long in the grand scheme of things. And I don't think "hell" is on the naughty words list here.

My reaction as well. He's groping under the bed for his hand cannon and doesn't take time to verify his lover is still in bed? Doesn't reach across the bed to make sure she heard his "warning"? It's a sequence of improbabilities.

Seet on da bed, Jerri

Hey, acting lessons aren't a bad idea. They sure would have come in handy for the Millionaire Murderer.

The sounds- including the voice of the killer- of a double murder were caught on tape. In court, it was so transparent that he was attempting to change the natural sound of his voice that the only thing his failed performance earned was a laugh. Oh, and a death sentence.

I agree, especially if that person is also very self-centered and has just come to the conclusion that something bad could now happen to them.

This might also account for his histrionics in court, vomiting, weeping etc.

The housekeeper stayed on the ground floor at the back of the house. I seem to recall that there was a water feature next to his window which ostensibly blocked any noises so he heard nothing.

I think he had learned to keep his nose out of Pistorius' business.

What sort of water feature blocks out the sound of multiple gunshots, screaming and someone bashing down a door with a cricket bat, all of which was heard from hundreds of yards away?
I call bovine excrement.

If I didn't already believe that he was very, very guilty, then I would now.
His story makes absolute no sense at all, off the back of this revelation.
As the first comment on that article points out, how did Pistorius know that the person in the bathroom wasn't his housekeeper?
Utterly unbelievable.

I doubt whether the housekeeper/gardener had access to the main house at night. The servant's quarters in South African houses are normally external to the "masters" living space.

He probably knew it would be better to say he heard nothing.

His room is off the kitchen but it's not clear if there's direct access into the house. There's a door next to the garage - that may be his entrance.

Carice Stander encountered him outside so he woke up at some point. It's a little suspicious that OP called Stander instead of asking Frank for help. Maybe the guy's old.
