I guess he's less than .1% or else he'd be on the c-span map. I imagine the total results will be available in over the next week or so...

Shanek is still around, here, and is still a member of the JREF. IIRC, he got tired of posting here on libertarian issues, and Libertarian issues, due to the Howler responses he kept getting. If any of you would be kind enough to call me a liar the next time I disagree with you, I'll get a nostalgic shanek buzz for a few seconds. He really is a nice guy, all internet arguing aside.

So the media is supposed to give loads of coverage to every insane little political party that can pop up? That's the only way democracy doesn't fail?

I think I'll start the Raspberry Pop-Tarts for Dinner Party and get all that media coverage on my pet issue of getting those delicious breakfast treats established as a dinner main course.

Hhmmm, other democracies have coverage for more than two political parties, and they seem to handle it fine.
Obviously, having
A) Only two parties represented in the media, or
B) Everybody and their dog equally represented
is a false choice.

In this election, there were 6 candidates who theoretically could've won, given that they received enough votes. A debate with 6 people, instead of just 2, is hardly unreasonable.
Moreover, third parties often discuss issues that the two parties never bring up. This would be a great asset to our national discourse.

And, of course, third parties suffer from a lack of coverage. Many third party candidates' support jumps after being in a televised debate. Jesse Ventura was polling very low (about 10% or so, I think). After he got into the debates, that percentage went way up, and he won!

Do we have any stats on the constitution party?

I can give you some local results.

According to the election results page for my county, 1,298 voters selected nobody for President. The Constitution party candidate got 695 votes, a bit over half the votes that nobody did.

Over the weekend, I reviewed the Libertarian "victories" in the recent election. It does not look good.

Should I publish them here, or create a separate thread. Publishing them here would be more efficient. Publishing them in a separate thread would be more humiliating, thus more fun.
