YELLOWSTONE! And Lady Roommate wanted.

Yes, we're at Jackson on the 10th, Drive back the morning of the 11th to Salt Lake and fly out to LAS around 3PM---which won't meet your need to be back in Montreal that evening.

Check your PMs and E-mails, I may have another option.

It has worked out, thanks to Hutch's efforts and generosity. I shall join these fine folks for the adventure. Can't wait! :)

Not going to Yellowstone, but I'll be your best roomie at TAM evar!:D

Basically, I'm 30, but much less mature since I've lived with much abuse, torture and lack of friends or school, and after five years of education (and crazy/abusive roommates) may have earned my transfer degree.

My blog is mad science writer at blogspot dot com, if you're interested in seeing what comes out of my brain.

Thank you, Ginger! Also, the 'less mature' thing is supposed to be a positive trait. That and my loving to tell crazy life stories and how I escaped. Never a dull moment!

I'll vouch for Spoony being a nice person. She's in our local skeptic's group. :D

If she can't find a roommate, you guys should have a bake sale or something to help her out with the room. :) It'd be a shame if she's registered and (I assume) has transportation but can't make it because of the room fees...

Just sayin'... :D

I'll go whether I find a roommate or not. If anything, another member of my group will help me out, but I'd rather not impose upon him -- I WANT TO IMPOSE UPON SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BE IMPOSED UPON!!

Ho!

This is coming soon. As I've never been in this part of the world, any tips/advice on what I should pack? I assume the weather will be fairly hot, but since it's in a mountainous region I should probably also assume it could get cold at times, or at least on evenings, perhaps... but probably not that bad that I'd need boots? I really don't know much about that region's climate. :) I'll definitely bring sunscreen (I burn stupidly easily, as fellow JREF cruisers will remember) and mosquito repellent.
Anything else I should know about? I'd like to pack as lightly as possible to avoid having to check in my luggage at the airport.

Can't wait to see you guys again. :)

Good call. Dem good-for-nuthin' bears always steal mah picnic basket...

Any advice on my packing question? :D

I'll try (not the best packer in the world myself)

*According to the 5-day forecast, highs should be between 74-80F, so whatever you find comfortable there. I am bringing a lightweight jacket (lined) since evening temperatures will be in the 40F range. Chances for rain are about 20% daily, so I am not bringing any rainwear. Given the temperatures, a bathing suit may not be required.

*Sneakers/good hiking shoes, we will stay on the main trails but I expect we'll cover quite a few miles on foot. Probably need just the one pair of shoes, unless you want to switch off.

*If you sweat walking in 80F (I sweat in any weather), bring whatever is needed.

*I doubt we'll be going anywhere to eat that requires anything fancier than blue jeans and T-shirt, but depends what you are comfortable in.

* I always forget something (belts last trip). There will be stores and opportunity to pickup stuff. Remember if you carry on you are limited on gels, lotions and other stuff (cost me a can of shaving cream last trip).

* All in all, pack what you feel comfortable having for 4 days (the first day you're already dressed) and if you have to check it, no problems (just $25 less you'll have when you arrive).

Take care, got to go do my packing now.

Safe travels, everyone. See you in Vegas. :)

At Trudeau right now, waiting for my flight to Minneapolis. Hope there won't be any delays cause the connecting flight to SLC has a short layover.

See you all soon! :)

Just bumping to let everyone know that the five of us (Luciana, Morrigan, Walter Wayne, Hamradioguy, and your's truly) completed a 5-day vacation to the Tetons and Yellowstone, saw most everything we wanted to see, ate Bison and Elk (well, some of us did) and saw some of the most beautiful country there ever was or will be.

Hopefully we'll be able to post some pictures here in the near future, but I can recommend all of the above folks as great travelling companions and good friends for any trek you'd care to make, and for those that missed it--you really did miss some special sites.

I have been seeing Luciana's pictures on facebook. Strangely only she shows up in them and not the rest of you. You all must have been busy taking pictures instead of posing for them.
