Yellow Bamboo Challenge

Went over the topic, and I'm suddenly reminded of something that often comes up on the Wizards of the Coast forums: Anime fanboys who think K4T4N4S R TEH UB3r 5W0RD and can cut through anything.

Thankfully, there are some reasonable DMs out there: One had a fanboy in a d20 modern game who got his hands on a katana in-game and tried to cut a tank in half with it. DM ruled that the sword broke without even looking at any reference tables or rolling dice. I'm glad that's one person who favored realism over cinematics on that topic.

-Watched the clip of the guy trying the kamehameha wave or whatever. Funny stuff. On par with this one other video I saw of a kid twirling a pipe around, nearly tripping over himself through the whole thing. Someone later added lightsaber sounds and effects.

Would like to reiterate a clever point I read somewhere about all this Yellow Bamboo sort of stuff: If it works, why don't the police and military employ it?

"Hurt" him how exactly? Why would it be necessary for him to be both "upset" and "feel it's ok to try to hurt the YB guy", an apparent contradiction in terms: It would probably be easier for him to try to 'hurt' you if he knew that you wouldn't be (in any way seriously) hurt! (Or is that what is implied with "only ... in the chest and abdomen area"?)

I fail to see the difficulty. A solid punch in the gut hurts. You can hurt someone without injuring them. An attitude of "I am going to teach this *expletive* a lesson" would count as anger, wouldn't it?
