I found these vid rants on the SCEPCOP site and I was wondering exactly who this guy is. I think I heard someone here reference him about having been a real ranter and raver.

The site seems to be more interested in attacking Randi, Shermer, etc. than anything to do with actually conduction scientific investigations into the paranormal.

What's up with this guy. What's his history here, etc.?

He's no one important. Just another woo espousing how us skeptics have got it all wrong.
In my estimation he and others listed just don't like anyone suggesting the emperor wears no cloths.
I engage him frequently on his site along with someone who calls themselves Indigochild.

There are only 4 skeptics residing there to help balance out the woo. It would certainly be nice to have a few more to help fill in any gaps in knowledge the four of us don't possess for the benefit of the fence sitters. There seems to be a lot of lurkers that may be fence sitters also.

I'll make a suggestion that you and everyone else should stop on by and voice your rebuttals from time to time. It's fun to watch both aforemention woos foam at the mouth. I've suggested recently to Indigochild they should stop by the JREF forum but they unfortunately declined my invitation.

So please stop on by and speak out.

P.S. Ironic that Winston's last name is Wu

If you can find any of his posts from usenet (sci.skeptic most likely), he hasn't changed his schtick since then.

Heck, he may still be recycling his posts from then, for all the difference it would make.

You can get to Usenet from Google Groups and sci.skeptic is still there in all its glory. ;) Here you go: http://groups.google.ca/group/sci.skeptic/topics?hl=en&lnk

Winston is very fixated on us evil lying spetics and
has not changed his tune in decades.

I've run across a few of this fellows vids on Youtube in the past. Comes across as your typical self-righteous woo peddler, more interested in whining and attacking rather than proving anything in particular. Pure drivel.

You've gotta love his last name though.

He got himself banned from here for, I think, spamming the boards. As I recall he would start dozens of threads all on the same topic. He was a flash-in-the-pan poster who had his misconceptions and logical fallacies explained to him dozens of times.

For more fun see if you can find his posts on more 'woo' magic forums - even they got sick of him fast. Mostly because he seemed to think nothing of mind control to get his girlfriend back. Even those who believe in magic woo thought that was low of the morality scale. Even worse was his attempts to justify it - resulting in his getting the nickname legw***** Wu.

He had a brief appearance here, where he made loads of his usualy debunked crap. So he tried to bring up so good old fashion slander vs. Randi and suddenly was looking down the barrel of a lawsuit. you could all but see him wetting his pants on the forum. The JREF eventually let him off the hook because he had no assets and seemed to learn his lesson. Of course, he now brags about it as if he had 'stared down' the JREF.

Ah yes, the lawsuit. I remember that now.

After a while all the loonies start running together.

Ah, thank you. I thought I recognised him; I think it must have been from a link posted here. Although I'm not even half-competent to judge, he really does seem to me to have a mental problem that might be alleviated by medication.

If you should post over there Wu goes by the cognomen scepcop. This site Debunking Skeptics was started by Wu for the purpose of spreading woo.

I joined the forum, posted two posts, and got banned for Signature Spamming. Needless to say, I am very confused. I had a link to What's The Harm? in my signature and nothing else. I referenced it in one sentence in a multi-paragraph post. Here is a copy of the letter I sent to the forum administrator.

To Whom It May Concern,

I am inquiring as to why I was banned from the SCEPCOP forum. My signature consisted only of a link to a website called, "What's the Harm?", detailing the tangible harms caused by pesudoscience. It is one of my many resources, but I chose that as my signature because I felt it was easily accessible for the general public. I mentioned the source in one of my posts, referring to the link in my signature for more information. The post contained a fair amount of information other than this reference.

I'm curious as to whether or not we are allowed to link to outside sources, or whether or not we are allowed to post links in our signatures or refer to them. A response and an explanation would be highly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Harpyja

Here are the posts.
* Well, as a skeptic, I personally don't find the jumping theory too plausible either. It's a rather poor argument in and of itself, although I can see where he's coming from. However, eyewitnesses - particularly in ancient history, particularly regarding miraculous events - have a knack of getting things wrong; not necessarily out of malice or a willing intent to deceive, but because of inherent flaws in memory and perception. Our perception of reality is notoriously unreliable, and optical illusions are a dime a dozen. However, I'll base my beliefs on evidence. As of yet, no human in recent history has been observed levitating, or in flight. There is no plausible scientific explanation for human levitation as far as I am aware. I feel confident in saying this isn't possible until someone presents better evidence other than eyewitness accounts.

I personally have multiple reasons, but first I'll address your reasons.
* Your beliefs really don't matter too much to me. For example, I'm from a family in which my mother is a pantheist and my father is a Catholic. I am a skeptic, but my siblings are too young to decide yet. Fortunately, my parents - primarily my mother - allowed me to develop my own set of beliefs based on what I felt is right, and I would never deny anyone that opportunity as long as their beliefs do not harm others. I believe in freedom of choice. I am going to educate my siblings, but if they choose a different path, I'm completely fine with it.
* However, I also believe in educating others to enable them to make an informed choice. In my eyes, skepticism is asking questions of "accepted dogma" and "perceived wisdom," but only on the basis of evidence. It's not wrong to ask questions - the greatest scientific discoveries are made by asking questions about the world - but you should inform yourself before you do ask questions.
* The reason that I do not reveal my name on websites is because I am a minor, and my mother does not allow me to. When I am no longer a minor - about a year - I may choose to reveal my name on the internet. I have no problem revealing my name, and I do not fear ridicule. There are safety issues to revealing one's name on the internet, however, which is why many people choose to go by a forum handle instead.
* I am openly a skeptic, so the issue of "coming out" does not apply to me either. My friends know this and my family knows this. I'd imagine most skeptics are not closeted, either. The problem with the concept of "openly being a skeptic" is that it doesn't really apply to day-to-day life. I am openly an atheist - I don't attend church or religious services, and I will mostly opt out of religious activities. However, thinking critically is really just an aspect of who I am as a person, equivalent to saying that I openly love strawberries or openly a classical music fanatic.

Here are my reasons.
* Irrational beliefs can be harmful, both to the individual and society at large. Check my signature for a link to a website keeping a tally of the damage pseudoscientific thinking has done to the world.
* I believe individuals should have the freedom to make their own choices in life, but their choices should be informed choices, based on the evidence we have of the world. Hopefully, I can educate people, point out the flaws in their reasoning, and allow them to make informed choices in the future. I can only hope others will return the favor in kind.
* The reality of what exists, based on evidence gained from the hard work of millions of people over thousands of years, is far more wonderful than most people can comprehend in a lifetime. Miracles, pseudoscience, and other paranormal beliefs sort of seem cheap in comparison to the wonders of our world, and I hope perhaps I can open up this opportunity for others to experience it as well.

Mind, I have never been banned from a forum before, so I'm baffled.

Signature spamming. That's a good one. I guess the idea is that you should change your signature for each post. Rather defeats the purpose of a signature, but what the heck.

Well, they do have a check box at the bottom of each post asking if you want to put your signature on that particular post. I don't know, it's very, very strange. Ironically, I was about to reply to a post regarding silencing of "skeptics" and how skeptics do not think "skeptically" when I was banned.

I still haven't gotten a response. I'll update you guys as soon as I get more information.
