Wikileaks is an enemy of the United States

Just released:

http://www.elsevier.nl/web/Nieuws/E...puy-Europa-heeft-Afghanistan-al-opgegeven.htm

'Europa doet het en zal er mee doorgaan uit respect voor de Verenigde Staten, niet uit respect voor Afghanistan,' zou Van Rompuy hebben gezegd. 'Niemand gelooft nog in Afghanistan.' De Amerikaanse ambassadeur in België, Howard Gutman zette deze uitspraken van de EU-president in een memo, die nu door WikiLeaks is gepubliceerd.

Translation of this wikileak latest: the president of the EU is quoted as having said that nobody believes in Afghanistan anymore.

We can be assured that this news will make it to Afghanistan. The West might as well withdraw troops immediately.

Such is the power of wikileaks. A desaster for the US power elite.

they are releasing countless secret documents and intellectual property of the United States. they are in possession of stolen goods, which is a crime.

they are releasing classified documentation which they have no right to possess or even see. this is a crime.

I don't know if somehow the USA is responsible for the cyber-attack on Wikileaks, but I would not mind it if we were.

there is a legal way to get government documents, even classified ones from the USA. its called the Freedom of Information Act. it does wonders.

however, Wikileaks chooses to go another route. an illegal one.

and it does appear that their agenda may indeed be to harm the United States and our allies.

they are an enemy of the USA.

The Freedom of Information Act doesn't disclose secrets or other documents.... Wikileaks is trying to show the public what would otherwise be hidden.

What did you learn from wikileaks that wasn't already reported by the MSM?

In the case of Afghanistan, it's more like a 'we know that you know that we know'. People are dying on either side because a war is being fought that cannot be won. Unless a large scale invasion that completely takes over the country occurs, and runs it from top to bottom, the war in Afghanistan such as it is now is a waste of time. Everyone knows it.

Doubtful such a large scale invasion would even work.

Agreed though. Afghanistan is a waste of money and lives, on all sides.

That Rafsanjani expects ali Khamenei to die soon and take his position, then force new Presidential elections, ousting Ahamdinejad. Sure hope Raf has this right (and if so it would be a rather spectacular news story, at least to objective news sources)...but in any event that's something I certainly didn't hear from our MSM. There are plenty of other "new news", but I'm assuming one example is enough?

Why are people debating whether or not he's a journalist?

What difference does it make?

It was an argument that deepatrax put forward. Apparently Assange doesn't deserve any protections from leaking those documents because he's not a journalist.

In essence there is no real difference but legally there would be.
