They were their because of concerns that the US was about to invade Cuba and, probably, to challenge the placing of US nuclear weapons in Italy and Turkey.
Ok, whatever. If that is what you want to believe, than fine, its totally cool. You hate America, I understand now.
The USSR was, to some extent, able to check US power but that does not mean they were seeking to destroy the US. The Cuba missiles barely effected the strategic nuclear balance (US 5,000 to USSR 300). The "Evil Empire" threat was massively exaggerated, just as the threat form al Qaeda has been.
Who cares if it affected the "Strategic blah blah bullcrap". How long would an ICBM take to travel 90 miles?? How about the other 60 miles to the mainland US?? Oh, about 2 minutes you say? By that time, South Florida is gone. You love to talk all smart, but, really, have the time, its just a wrong statement to begin with.
The threat to worry about is that posed by the existence "big dog" kick ass nuclear weapons anywhere.
Proof?
A curious, skeptical person might wonder how Ford could have made such a profit in the current financial climate. It lost over $1bn on its core business of selling cars and trucks and is over a hundred billion debt. Its posted profit is entirely due to a a one-off financial boost from a debt restructuring. It certainly isn't evidence of economic recovery.
Smart business planning, increased sales in Europe, Canada, and the US. THat is another topic though.
Despite its popularity here, lazy stereotyping has no place in critical thinking.
Ok, than help me understand that overly worded post. KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid
There was a financial meltdown on the cards before the attacks.
Really?? And how bad was it?? Did 9/11 make the problem MUCH worse??
The terror threat was exaggerated and hyped after 911, with, for example, rubbish claims that the US was riddled with sleeper cells waiting to be activated.
Paranoia?? There very well might have, you don't have the first clue. Maybe they left back for their home countries before the authorities could come up with them. You know, after 9/11, alot of Americans were suspicious of anybody from the Middle East, and that was understandable.
The people of Iraq and Afghanistan are "THEM"?
Are we just going over there and killing random people for no apparent reason?? Are we going over there and blowing up parts of their most important cities?? No. Stop being stupid and put the strawman away.
One doesn't need a global war to asssassinate a few hundred people.
I think you do not understand the meaning of that word.
As with your Ford "fact" you need do some research before making wild claims that more than a small minority are "enemy combatants".
Really?? Proof?? Links?? Evidence?? Argument from personal beliefs noted.
Here are your words, in which the only discernible diference between "you" and "them" is that "you" have got your own airplanes with which to kill innocent civilians by the thousand:
Are we purposly targeting innocent civilians?? No?? Say it ain't so.
My original statement stands. Try putting the strawman away, and stop being obtuse.
See above about Ford's Depression profit and there were people overseeing housing bubble frauds but they, the regulators, collaborated in the fraud.
Proof?? Or was it incompitence?? My guess is the latter. Nobody was checking on the big boys. Nobody.
The Chinese and Japanese have been paying for the US resource wars. With the collapse of confidence in the US financial system and economy that is unlikely to continue for very long.
Explain??
