Why I hate America

Alex Jones?
I wonder what this list would look like if it were inverted? What is the inverse of Alex Jones? Cynthia McKinney?

The original blog is from the bible-thumping holier than thou folks at Liberty University. It was apparently written by Pat Buchanan's mommy. The list can be summarized by.....

"I hate liberals so they must, in turn, hate everything that I like because I'd be uncomfortable sharing a fondness for good butterscotch with someone who likes Barack Obama."

It really is the foundation of the philosophy of political rhetoric of at least one currently suspended member of these forums.

Also, the insinuation is that less than 100% unquestioning support is automatically equal to hate.
Only authoritarians and abusers of relationships think that way.

"Old fashioned light bulbs"? Are we supposed to like them? They cost more in electricity, are shorter-lived, more delicate, and give off less light than modern LED bulbs. What advantage do "old fashioned light bulbs" have that makes liking them a good thing?

The choice is a good thing. I like choices.

I've got a couple of very occasionally used exterior lights. They are fitted with not only "Old fashioned light bulbs", but actual old light bulbs more than 50 years old. Running cost is not significant. If they had to be replaced I would prefer to use a similar unit, rather LEDs costing 10X as much, even if the LEDS would then last until 2267.

But people who apparently think they know my needs better than me say I can't.

Actually, they don't. You can still buy them. They just put a restriction on manufacturing them. But how is this really different than a car manufacturer when they stop making parts for an older car? BTW, since some people have a problem with any government regulation. What's your position on the government requiring auto manufacturers being required to make spare parts for vehicles for a number of years? Is that wrong too?

Why do you actually hate the American flag, limited government and home schooling?

The flag is just a flag; is it possible you actually mean those people who wrap themselves ion the flag and burn the constitution?

So when you hate limited government, does this mean you want more government?

What do you have against homeschooling?

Ranb

I actually do hate the flag because I don't think the design is good or colors work. People that wrap themselves in it are not thought of with fondness either.

I generally think adequate government is the hallmark of civilization. So I find the idea of "limited government" irksome since it usually translates into "there is this bad thing I want to be able to do".

And homeschooling...yuck. I mean what is it other than warped parents filling their kids heads with nonsense?

I don't mind the colors. I just don't like how the flag has been used. That we should all support the latest military action. I hate it when people who have no idea about what our government is doing in their name think saluting a piece of cloth is a demonstration of their love for this country. It's a symbol. If they could list the Bill of Rights I'd be more impressed.

Not many things to hate that cannot be found, gosh, under every sorry flag flapping in some imagined wind of glory around the globe. So just one, the one that frees boots to stomp while serving as glaring - yet largely unnoticed! - head-on contradiction to democratic principle, which is what makes it beyond all excuse:

1. Exceptionalism.

And its close pal, Manifest Destiny. Really? Allow me to barf infinitely at the preening woo and patent proto-fascism.

I think, perhaps, it's not all about you.

Most people need a visual symbol to embrace. The dislike for the flag is, IMHO, another sign of the intellectual snobbery that infects the left.
This open contempt for patriotism is one reason the left keeps losing the swing vote in elections..and that is ahigh price to pay for feeling superior to all those flag loving Blue Collar Proles..

Understood, but the problem with the LEDs and Fluorescents is that they do not work or only work for a day or 5 in many of my bulb holding units- and the units in my house are not particularly old and the electrics are fine and upgraded. The old style bulbs work great!!!!!

You were you homeschooled?

For the curious - excellent bulbs of the old type - the ones I am currently enjoying in my house!!!!!!

I understand and agree with the substance of your post. This isn't a position i advocate taking just as I am reluctant to express my anti-theist positions.

On one hand, the flag waving makes people feel good with the nation and fellow Americans and that is good, to a degree. Unfortunately, it is also an insidious whitewash of what is wrong with America. Instead of burying heads in sand, it's an excuse for many to bury our heads in the Red, White and Blue.

Take for example Colin Kapernick's not standing for the American anthem. Some people saw this as a sign of great disrespect for America. And now he is being blackballed from his profession.

But what could be more American than a nonviolent protest? Whether you agree or disagree with his grievances, shouldn't he have the right to stand up or in this case kneel for what he believesn? What does a piece of cloth matter compared to the basic principles that this great nation was founded?

Quit talking sense buster. This is politics!

Re Colin Kapernick: He has a right to protest, but no right to be immune from negative consequences from the method he used to protest.
He had probably a valid point, but his method of making it was stupid. It ended up alienating people instead of making them listen to him. The longer I live, the more I relize that that old statement "It is not what you say, but how you say it, that makes or breaks a case" is 100% the truth.
Frankly, this is another area that a lot of activist just don't get. :they don't get the purpose of a protest. It should not be aimed on people who already agree with you, but with people who don't or don't care about an issue. You need to reach them, not do some action that gets you fellow activist excited but turns other people off.
Otherwise it is a useless circle jerk that makes you feel good but accomplishes nothing.

As for blackballed from his profession. If Colin Kaepernick had a good record as a QB over the past few seasons, he would have been signed by now. People forget that the Niners were basically trying to trade him..without success...at the time Kaepernick took the knee. I am sure that is major factor why Colin is not signed up. You have a medicore at best QB with a ton of issues;no wonder teams are not falling over themselves to trade him.

Perhaps you should check your "bulb units". You may have bad wiring. Or, if my recent viewing of Star Trek is any guide, you may have a subspace bubble. It can be dispersed by generating a tachyon pulse from your deflector array.

You will need to use LED bulbs in your deflector array, of course.

My favorite moment from the Kaepernick controversy was reading someone who said "People died for our national anthem!"

It's standard for American nationalists to confuse the map for the territory, but they don't usually think it's the tune on the car radio.

That's just one of the reasons America is the hilariousest.
