Why does CPAC continue to invite Donald Trump to speak?

You have noticed that CPAC is as much about conservative celebrities than it is about actual political candidates, right? Palin, Phil Robertson, Trump, Tomi Lahren.... conservative bobble heads to say silly things to make the real candidates look less... silly?

Amusement? Makes other speakers look more sane by comparison?

I think it is more of a wonder why "the media" bothers to follow what Trump, Giuliani, or Sarah Palin say.

Why is this even a question? Of course he's there. He is as much a representative of their ideal as anyone. He's an entertaining bamboozelitious charlatan who evinces (or acts out) mind-boggling ignorance, is willing to say the most outrageous things without regard reality and is as vicious as a rabid rottweiler with Sarah Palin for a mother.

Ann Coulter, Ted Nugent . . .

I wonder if Trump is a big donor (to CPAC and other conservative political groups) too? That alone could be another reason.

I think they just run out of black atheist conservative females, so they have to fill the time slots.

Seriously.... the straw poll (remember the good old days of Romney buying the results?) just released has their "take on reality".

1. Rand Paul
2. Scott Walker
3. Ted Cruz
4. Ben Carson

Hillary's probably sitting in front of the TV like a cat with cheese on her breath.

Donates a lot of money to the RNC. But not really a serious candidate, especially not this time around when the GOP has a strong field.

Does he give money to RNC? How much?

There are quite a few weird things that happen at CPAC.

I expect that anybody with lots of money, some amount of public appeal, and hatred of Obama would be allowed to speak to speak at CPAC.

How is this a question? It's CPAC. "Burning Man for Fascists." It's always been a circus freak show of the most insane and unhinged far-right-wing ideologues.
