Why can't Corbyn connect with public?

Probably it is just you who did not understand that Corbyn DID connect with the public and won some 20 plus new seats

How do you think it would go if you wandered up to a bunch of university students and told them that you would pay their £9000 per year university fees for them? Do you think you might acquire a bit of attention and interest? Never mind that you don't have the money to do it.........forget that. Just stick with the bribery thing. Corbyn was able to do that, and offer all sorts of other things to all sorts of other people, because he knew he couldn't win and would never be called to account for those promises. Bribing people with their own money is one thing.........bribing people with money which doesn't exist is entirely another. It's a great trick.

Corbyn hasn't "connected". The majority of those that voted for him wouldn't have seen him as PM. They voted Corbyn because they don't want May. There are parts of the country and our society where you could pin a red rosette on a donkey and it would win the seat. If that donkey also offers to give you a whole lot of money, then so much the better.

That's a gross oversimplification and ignores the fact that those students have already taken on the debt described.

I think you need to demonstrate, beyond your mere belief, that students voted solely due to a selfish view of a single issue and not, as I assume you vote, solely on the basis of one's morals and politics.

If it can be reasonably shown that third year students (who would not gain from an elimination of student fees) voted differently to first and second year students.

I think you attributing students voting to mere selfishness is probably wrong and you're just guessing.

You're unaware that Corbyn backdated his offer to students? Interesting.

I was, yes. that gives more weight to your thoughts. I still don't think it's a slam dunk though and would need more evidence.

Do you vote only with your wallet? When you've voted in the past for parties promising tax cuts or against parties promising tax rises, were you voting solely on the basis of your own personal finances?

If not, then why do you believe your motives are different from theirs?

They are loaned the money, so someone has the money.
