To answer the OP.

The reason truthers are terrorist apologists is that they can't believe there are people you cannot reason with who would kill you for no logical reason.

It really is that simple. The fear of that idea, the randomness of how terrorists operate and their own inflated egos makes them have to apologize for terrorists because they cannot face a world that is that frightening.

We all have seen truthers post here with their (usually) incoherent ramblings, antisemitism and other posts. These posts are usually made up of personal incredulity, personal ignorance and a healthy dose of paranoid. This incredulity is often manifested in the basic statement of "why would they do that, it doesn't make sense." That is the root of why truthers apologize for the terrorists. Because the idea of killing oneself for (twisted) religious purposes doesn't make sense to them, while murdering thousands for cash (larry s and insurance fraud, missing $180 B from towers, missing $2.3 trillion, etc) or power (NWO, Chaney is evil, etc) does make sense to them.

What is really amusing is noticing this projection on their part... they'd be willing to kill for money, but have no other convictions they would be willing to die for.

I think part of it is that being a truther (same with all conspiracy theorist) is inherently linked to denial of reality that the majority hold to be true. Truthers see the world, after all, as the result of a diabolical and evil scheme by the NWO, Illuminati, Freemasons, etc. to enslave them by creating alternate histories.

Thus, if something is known to be true by the majority of people, truthers must by default oppose it. Since the majority believe extremist fundamentalist Islam to be responsible for 9/11, it MUST be a lie perpetrated by the NWO and that fundamentalist Islamic movements are good things.

I live in a muslim country surrounded by great, fantastic people. I have met the families of 2 of the hijackers (the ones who came from RAK in the UAE where I live and work) and they admit their sons were involved and di horrible things.

could the jews/zionists commit acts of terrorism? You bet. It has happened, and their criminal treatement of the palestinians and gaza are well documented.

But when ALL of the evidence points to 19 islamic terrorists then it is 19 islamic terrorists.
